I'm not so sure, I'm not one of the ex military listmembers but I can handle
a shotgun, know my way around an air rifle and could probably handle at
least part of the planning, A lot of list members (assuming they'd been
brought up in a world of simsense and ASIST) could probably deck (although
it would be Allegiance Sigma at best. I'm sure there are people who muck
about with R/C even without the money for a VCR they could operate drones
from the "Captain's chair". What skills does a shadowrunner need? Who knows
if it was a choice between a run and starvation I could even find a use for
"fishing".
As to the point about Street level contacts earlier in the thread I think
that is something we're all lacking however it wouldn't neccesarily be a
vast problem. Think about Redmond, if you walk into a bar in a "bad part of
town" and tell the bartender you need a gun he'll be able to point you in
the right direction if nothing else.
It's rumoured that you can easily buy an AK-47 with 2 clips in parts of
Manchester and Birmingham if you have a few hundred quid, in a world/time
where so many people are totally disenfranchized the black market would
flourish, gun culture would likely grow (after all you don't exist so the
police aren't going to help much and the guy breaking into your house
probably doesn't exist either so there aren't going to be any charges
against you even if you accidentally shoot him dead.
