"Free" depends alot, I think, on what kind of game the GM is running
If your GM keeps the 1 to 20 karma pool ratio for metahumans (I know, its
pretty steep and alot of GMs don't use it) and throws abit of racism in here
and there (I think not enough GMs use it) then it can seem alot less "free"
in the long run.
