Agreed -- but the lightning is made throughout the entire area of effect
of the spell at once. It's not shooting a lightning bolt at a single
point on the car, but electrifying a (usually) 12-meter diameter sphere.
So some of that electricity would be right inside, for example, the
car's computer, where the nearest conductor will be some electronic
component.
