I went to college for a year, but I doubt my experience is too relevant. All
I got out of it was the loss of the one person I truly cared for to a campus
race-riot, and a one-way trip into the Shadows.
Still, Chem 107 occasionally comes in handy, when a FireStorm would be

called it 'Chemistry for future terrorists'.)]<<<<<

Sorry for the misdirection. From what I have heard someone at the top
is doing a very bad thing. I had originally suspected that Lofwyr was
the one initiating all of it but I am not entirely sure anymore. Have
you been watching the news? There was some big mucky-muck meeting
with the PRESIDENTS / CEO's of ALL of the big eight.

That along with maxim and their "recalls" has me worried. I have
used a lot of maxim equipment and its not bad at all. Someone is doing
something and the worm is in on it. I dont know about the others.

I have a great fear that Maxim is being set up to be the scape goat. They
have been moving up the ladder very quickly these last few months and
their stock, despite some internal problems, has been pretty darned
stable. Its moved upward in leaps and bounds since I first started taking
an interest in them. Last night, however, I dumped all of my stock in
them. Its not safe anymore until this all blows over.

When was the last time you have seen ALL of the eight go on high security?
I cant even gain access to my research back in the pyramid.

I would go down there, I did get an offer, but I have some other things in

>>>>>[That was pretty sly there, GoD. I fell right into it. Didnt notice
a thing. You need to be a little more specific about what you are looking for.

Over the past 10 years I have been collecting books and tomes of even the
most inane magical theories. Most would be surprised at how close some of
the more primitive cultures were to obtaining magic...too bad it just
wasnt available to them.

Life Sparks -- Aura magic? Seems kinda Pseudo-New Age stuff. You might
take a look at some of the books from the 1970's-1990's or so. Lots of
information about chakras, ki, channeling. Once you get past all the self-help
drippy-hoop information you will find yourself with a better understanding to
work from.

Magic is all in the visualization. Simple.

Something else I dont usually let out but, you might wish to find archived
versions of old children's games. Back in 1970 or 1975 there was a company
that created a game called Dungeons and Dragons (which spawned of a host of
other such games and rules). It was played by children sitting around a
table with dice, pencils, and paper...and a lot of imagination. Pretty
simple stuff actually but what I want to point your attention to is that
they have a class called a magic-user and a set of spells and descriptions
of the effects of those spells. I freely admit that my imagination isnt
up to par so I use those for inspiration for spells. Not much in the way
of aura magic but definitely a must for any combat-oriented mage.

I have a decent hermetic library and some shamanic things hidden away. If
you need access to them I can do that. Just give me the scoop.]<<<<<

druids, so I'm tempted to say it's druidic, but I wont). In the few passages

But thats not why I am sending you this --

Communications gear for 12 man team. Real Corp grade stuff if you can swing
it. Two mobile base units and drones for tight beam bounces. I am going to
need something that will not be easily shut down by some kid with a

Weapons -- I use a Steyer in SMG configuration. Ill need at least one of
those with compressed wood rounds, maybe some apds if you can find it but
I dont think its all that important. Maybe you can set me up with
some Ak's or something. Completely disposable.

If you CAN swing vehicles that would be excellent.

You've seen the armor I wear when Im feeling paranoid, right? I could use
something close to that. Why should I advertise that Im a mage by
not wearing combat armor? Thats not bright. I think I can get the helmet
into Japan without problems but I wont be able to get the armor in.

If I got the armor to you do you think you could get it in or find me something
at least close that I could use there? The helmet is the most important part
in that it has the MilSpec communications suite and the recording
chips.

Oh, yeah, you and I are going to have a talk soon. What the frag do you think
you're doing putting Tris in danger like this? You know she'll do anything

>>>>>[ Well, violence erupted in the Barrens last night, as if that's a
surprise to anyone. The weird thing is that when the Star arrived to
check on it, they found four corpses and a whole lot of plastic explosives.
Turns out that the bodies belong to an elite Humanis cell that was planning
some retribution for the people who took out that Thunda guy. They got
what's coming to 'em if you ask me.

Now I bet you're wondering how I know all this, huh? Well this video
feed popped into my mailbox this morning along with the info above. I
don't know who sent it, but I think he deserves a fraggin' medal.

+++++ begin video feed:

The video begins with a view of a more run-down than average street, somewhere
in the barrens. It's very dark, and most of the streetlights have been out
for years. As the view turns into an dark alley low-light systems kick in
and the view approaches the side door to one of the battered tenements that
could be seen from the street.

Suddenly a smartlink targeting reticle appears along with a large amount
of telemetry data. A voice can be heard softly in the background saying
wryly "Let's see if I've still got it."

With that the scene explodes into a blur of movement, right hand coming up
with a silenced Colt Manhunter as the right foot connects with the door sending
it slamming open. Swinging right the figure fires a round into the head of
a young ma with a shaved head and a schwastika tattooed on his arm. Catching
movement to the left, the view careens to the floor as the assailant launches
into a diving roll on his right shoulder, coming up with a combat grip on
the Manhunter, and two targets in his field. Whap, whap. Two rounds
leave the gun, taking the first in the center of his chest, and the second
between his eyes.

Cautiously the view begins to rise and check on the 3 bodies, verifying
that they are indeed dead. Movement to the right causes the view to lurch
suddenly as the Manhunter whips around and the reticle centers on a young
woman. The as the Manhunter starts to lower the woman brings an Ares
Predator and the scene seems to move in slow motion as the view dives
to the left a flash can be seen from the womans direction and the
Manhunter comes up firing, the woman's chest erupting as the rounds
impact.

+++++ end video feed

Oh, almost forgot. The Star found a note on site telling them all the
information above, and where to find about a half dozen more corpses who
were working with these guys. Whoever was behind all this was very
efficient, and left no forensic evidence whatsoever. ]<<<<<

And you're right, people say a great many things to justify their
position. Ever heard of irregular nouns?

_I_ am a heroic freedom fighter battling against oppression for a just
and true cause.

_You_ are a guerilla.

_He_ is a psychopathic terrorist fighting for an evil and depraved
minority movement.

It's older than history, Zach, sad to say, and sometimes it's hard to
know where you stand.

together and you will be missed. Both by myself and the friends you have
made here. I hope your time away from Haven will be far better and
happier than your time here was.

Just a couple of words of advice, if I may. You can take them however
you like, but I offer them as someone who you may someday call a friend.

Don't let yourself grow up too fast, Kenneth. I know you have suffered
greatly recently. Some of it I was around for, some of it your brother
told me when he asked me to take admit you into Haven for a while.
Suffering forces a certain type of maturity on people, Kenneth,
regardless of thier age. By the time I was your age I had been
conscripted into the armed forces and had lost more friends than I care
to remember. I still have nightmares, after all this time.... But it
forced me to grow up far sooner than those educated and aristocratic
children who had the benefit of "good breeding" to keep them out of the
military, or at least place them instantly in the officer's corp. While
we were doomed to die with the ship, the officers were treated to tea as
befitted thier "higher breeding." As you can imagine, I didn't exactly
have a normal childhood.

And you cannot have one either, I'm afraid. You're pain is too great for
that. But don't become an adult before you're old enough to drive.
Explore your youth while you still have the chance. Haven would have
given you that chance, but you feel that the magical group offers more of
what calls to you soul, or perhaps your spirit. Don't let them turn you
into a 16 year old adult, Kenneth. It happens far too easy in these trying
times, and this, as much as anything, is why I started Haven nearly 30
years ago.

Please, Kenneth, take your time. Follow your soul and your spirit. Wolf
will guide you well, but I will pray to the Gods that Wolf's guidance
involves showing you how to be a rambunctious and annoying teenager
before It shows you just ho serious being an adult has to be sometimes.

You will always be welcome here at Haven, Kenneth. Always.

May the Gods keep you well, Kenneth. But more important, take care of
yourself.]<<<<<

Wet work, while not exactly what I do, is akin to it. There are very few mages
willing to put their hoops in the air to get shot off. I personally dont
mind being down and dirty with the rest of the point team. Its where I
can keep my skills on edge. Keeps me hard. Having a mage as part of your

protection, while a good idea, doesnt cover enough of the bases. I can leap
astral in the span of a heart beat if that is whats called for. Doesnt work
