Okay, okay, some clarifications are called for here. Yes, I break
rule four (five? three?) with respect to my characters. If you want to know
exactly who they are, here's a little help file.

uplink : What this man says is true, he _is_ the UCAS Head of Communications
Hardware. However, he is _not_ a decker! He can hack into some accounts but
if he tried to get into, say, Mitsuhama he'd be red-flagged and stopped
almost immediately. He has an attitude of hero-worship toward Shadowrunners
who he sees as the ultimate free spirited individuals. In game terms, the
man _does_ have a RED-18 database, no more saying "it's drek" please, since
he knows the tricks of your trade and can counter them. Besides, nothing in
it's worth anything to you. He offers to help 'runners with commo hardware
when he can (I think he made an offer to someone about some UV commo laser
hardware) but won't compromise his employers.

Catch-22: My first shadowrun character, he's arrogant because he _has_ cast
the world's most powerful spell. During his adventures he had summoned
ten force-12 fire elementals (with help from Renraku's magical research
division) and then decided to BURN them all to put behind a Fireball 6 spell
he'd cast at a supposedly "invulnerable" target. That's 126 successes
(Catch never left the SRUN I rules; any comments from him still exist within
those rules), and we considered the Great Ghost Dance to have a Force of 100.
Ergo, in our game, he had just cast The World's Most Powerful Spell, Bar None.
Now, that was back in 2048. Six years later, he's still 'running (thanks to
a clause in his contract with Renraku), and he just now managed to Initiate
himself. Does this make him an extremely powerful mage? No. Does this make
him an extremely knowledgeable mage? Hell no. His "title" is pure arrogance.

Shadowknight: Brace yourselves boys, this man could destroy the world if need
be. SK _isn't_ your traditional character; in fact, he's a super-hero from
off-dimension who uses technology gained from Cyberpunk 2020 (higher tech,
if you ask me) who monitors this realm for "Threats to the Dimensional
Balance". He's already taken one out, too. He has traditional super powers
given to him by a super-armor suit similar to a BGC hardsuit, but MUCH higher
technology (past ST:TNG, even), with other powers similar to a physad
initiate level 12 or so.

SK, of course, is the most outrageous character I have, and clearly violates
the rule of creating believable characters. But I've always said that
dimensional travel exists; so a person from a superheroic world could always
cross over to a world like this one. So he did. He represents an
antithesis to your standard Shadowrunner; where the everyday 'Runner has
no power, and can't stand to most corporations. (That's why they live in
the SHADOWS.) SK, on the other hand, has power beyond power, has an
organization that could stand up to Aztechnology or the Tir, and has other
dimensions where he could get technology or personnel from.

Why is he a character? Mostly ego. I need to be the best in something and
SK represents that. But I don't use him very often, and never on a simple
operation like a Shadowrun. He also has prices he paid for his power.
Stories can be written at this level; Just that he has a few dozen more
problems than all of you do.
