OK, Frank. Have a blast. Haze will stay who he is, and what he has.
His face will change, and D'Arkan will use everything he can, prior to
Achilles finally folding up to ensure that Haze ceases to exist.
Paul will probably continue to hunt Haze, but I have an idea that might
even put Lynch off. :)
Anyway. Like I said, this is going to free Haze from the nasty
situation that Paul and I have shoved him into, one that should allow
him to continue but under a different name with a whole new identity.
What I was going to do, and I'll start writing it over the next couple
of days, is to interview Haze. Anything he knows about Farmer will be
sent to Lynch, but the information he has on COT will be used by
D'Arkan. I'm going to drive a few nails into that coffin before I wind
it up and move it to another area. It will allow you some freedom to
explore the Winternight cell that you mentioned, and provide Haze with a
few useful contacts. I'll fabricate something that will leave Haze in a
favourable light with D'Arkan though there's always going to be the bbus
situation between them. (One uses what tools one can to get the job
done.) I don't know how much you want to tie Haze into the COT plot,
but it wouldn't hurt him to help in it's eradication.
D'Arkan is probably going to leave the FBI, and head into the only area
of society where he can see that he can achieve results, he'll be joined
by a couple of other agents who are likewise disillusioned with things,
and I'll explore that later.
So far, aside from the bus incident, there is no reason that I can see
for D'Arkan to hate Haze on a personal level, it's business, and that
debt will shortly be paid, so, up to you if you want to take it any
further, or plough on with the sideline you were talking about earlier.
There's no reason that I can see for Haze himself to change, and to his
friends that's who he is, but to all other intents and purposes, he can
become anyone you want.
I'll send the post to you as soon as I've finished it, so you can add
Haze and Cathedral's POV and I'll make any necessary changes to
D'Arkan's section to counterpoint your reactions to him. It will take a
while before it's finished, but should be a handy rebirth for your
character and a clean slate from the dark hole I've helped dig.
