BOTCHED SHAKEDOWN ENDS IN BLOODBATH
Two Police Officers Among Twelve Slain
It started as routine extortion, as a small group of Mafia enforcers
swaggered into the "Yellow Sea Trading Company" coffee bar, to demand
their regular 'take'. It ended in carnage and murder, with the coffee
bar's three staff, eight customers, and one of the criminal scum dead on
the blood-soaked tiles.
According to an eyewitness, who observed the horrific events from across
the street while desperately trying to summon Lone Star, three men
walked into the coffee shop and an altercation ensued which quickly
developed into brandished weapons, and the coffee bar's staff and
customers were herded together and forced to kneel on the floor.
The cashier was ordered to produce money, and when he refused one of the
Mafia thugs threatened a waitress, holding a shotgun to her head.
One of the customers heroically tried to aid her, drawing a concealed
pistol and firing at her tormentor: and the cowardly criminals
retaliated by machine-gunning the helpless men and women to death.
Searching for their money, furious that it was not to be had, the two
surviving murderers rifled the corpses of their victims... slitting the
throats of two who had survived the storm of bullets.
Lone Star refused to comment on the eyewitness testimony, but confirmed
that all twelve victims were pronounced dead at the scene and identified
two of the victims as off-duty officers: Patrolman Douglas R. Stempel
and Patrolman Leanne Brickell.
The police also released composite images of two suspects -

wanted in connection with the atrocity. Anyone able to identify these
criminal scum, or with information that might assist Lone Star in their
pursuit of the killers, is asked to call >>number<< as soon as possible.
The Seattle Herald is offering =Y,000 as a reward to the first person
to identify each of the murderers.

*Someone* just invited a major heatwave down on themselves. You just
*don't* go around snuffing civilians and offing cops like that. Not in
Tacoma, not if you like your life quiet, not unless you want every beat
cop out for your blood.

thesis... just when I thought it was safe to go off-campus...]<<<<<
