The world population in ShadowRun is much lower than most people on this

Almost right... BUT: The Amerindian "Re-education" centers didn't lower the
population group anywhere near as much as the VITAS plagues. The wars actually
INCREASED the Amerindian population, as people with the barest trace of
Amerindian blood "went native". The Night of Rage, while bloody, did not kill
all that many people. I believe the amount was about 10000. While 10K is a lot
of people, it's only a drop in the bucket, when we talk about the impact on a
population total. Less than .1%, really.
My estimate is that the world population is about what is now. Remember, the
human race can double it's population every 20 or so years... So you need to
kill off a lot of people just to get that conservative figure.
