and there's problems.

Velli's left me pretty much alone (looks for some wood to knock, gives
up) because she got caught with her fingers in the cookie jar. Going
after me would be expensive, generate little profit, and start a few
conflicts that would be unproductive and unprofitable for her and her
corporation. No advantage, lots of costs. I'm replaceable, and my
replacement might harbour grudges too.

As for groups like the Org... well, the old Agency used to be like that
too. So are a fair number of groups now. It's always easier to destroy
than to protect. And the problem is, without an AJ at the helm, those
organisations - unaccountable, authorised to do as they wish - always
end up pursuing their own agenda, which is usually wealth and power for
the boss. Always.

I've seen it, and I've smashed it, too often in the past. No offence to
AJ, but groups like that are like riding a tiger: the only question is
when it turns on you. He should, if he hasn't already, investigate the
_real_ history of SIGA. The parallels are... disturbing.]<<<<<

One of the multitude of reasons I left and became a surgeon again.

I know I'm dating myself, but anyone here ever heard the Leftover Salmon
song "Alfalfa's"? If you have then, this little fragment will make a
little more sense:

When I grow up, I wanna be an implant surgeon....+++++Include Music+++++

If you're ever in Boulder, Ute Sector, FRFZ, I highly recommend you listen
to the song and then visit the store. You'll understand a little better.

But Velli outmaneuvered a good many people, took control, and consolidated
power over Maxim and got a new subsidiary out of the remaining Org people
after the Big 8 got done chopping them up. It's almost too bad that she
was able to fight them off--I'd have fewer people I trained gunning for my
sorry ass.

And what's this about refering to me in the past tense? I'm not dead, you
know. I just happen to be nocturnal the vast majority of the time.]<<<<<

I'm glad you got out of the Org when you did, AJ. And I think you
probably understand better than anyone why the Agency works the way it
does, depending on Nelsonian blindness from bodies who could pursue it
and shut it down.

I prefer my version of the power quote: With absolute power comes
absolute responsiblity.

That alone explains a large part of the reason that I accuse God, or the
Gods, or the Being, or whatever which I think created the universe and
it's laws and then let it alone, of being responsible for everything good,
bad, or indifferent.

Needless to say, I don't endear myself to most organized religions
believing that. I'm glad I'm out too, although I'd rather have had the
Org go to Moriarity instead of Velli. He'd at least used it in a
reasonably responsible manner. Velli, on the other hand....]<<<<<
