had connected to the missile attack. I went and had a look at them, and
found that they were pretty much the stereotypical policlubbers - stupid,
ugly, violent. They seem to meet to drink most nights, and I've observed
one such session with the intention of figuring out who's in charge, who's
weak, that sort of thing. It didn't quite work, I was only watching about
five minutes before they spotted me and attacked. I got away (obviously)
but it was _extremely_ annoying.

Some time in the next couple of days, I'll arrange some way to find out
where they store their weapons, and see if any of the rockets are there.
I'll let you know how that goes ASAP.]<<<<<

to enjoy nailing them... I was watching them in a bar at around 1700 (they

in charge. And in addition to that, I figured they wouldn't be stupid
enough to be openly violent towards every metahuman they see... that
wouldn't be a good move for a militant cell. But I was wrong - I guess
maybe they knew the bar's owner and clientele, maybe they were that stupid,
I dunno. Anyways, because I'm a woman it started with only one of the
fraggers coming at me, making some comment about how he could show me what
a real man is like, which I didn't dignify with an answer. (As a side note,
_damn_ I hate men sometimes. If I wasn't a mage/assassin, I would have been
raped, beaten, and probably killed, while all his friends looked on
laughing. Scum.) Anyway, I flew forwards, scooped him up, and flew him into
a wall at about 50 KPH. He made quite an impressive dent. Then I was out
the door before the rest had a chance to pull finger and join in.

I miss you. XXX.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Alright, I've got proof... you might be able to use this to get a
conviction - do you want that, or do you want me to kill him?

I went to observe the PClubbers drinking again tonight, and was slightly
more subtle this time. One guy drew my attention, he looked a little
smarter than the rest of them, and didn't drink so much. The way they acted
around him was a little different, like he wasn't really part of the gang,
somehow, but it was sort of respectful... like he was the brains of the
outfit, I came to conclude. So about an hour ago, I nabbed him outside his
house, flew him up to a couple of hundred feet, and mindraped him to find
out where they keep their weapons. The answer was a warehouse (ten out of
ten for originality, guys) a couple of K's south of where the CZ used to
be. Segen, Chastity, and I raided the place, and we found a small cache of
assorted heavy and light weapons here, including an HMG, some grenade
launchers, and five of the rockets. The serial numbers were >>list of
numbers<< - matching five of the rockets on the list you gave Twain. We're
swiping the gear, maybe we can use it, if not we can try to sell it here in
Chitown before moving out. Either way, the PClubbers won't have it.

Now, do you want me to try to find out what happened to the rest of the
rockets, or do you want me to deal with Simons? Or I could get Twain to
keep looking here while I take care of Simons. The PClubber I swiped is
still here, I'll continue interrogating him until you contact me, and I'll
give anything useful he tells me to Twain. Also, what do you want me to do
with the rockets I've got here?]<<<<<

Do you want this followed up now, or would you prefer Simons to be dealt
with first? On the one hand, I might be able to get the rockets before
they're used, on the other, Humanis can probably get this sort of thing
from other sources. The determining factor would probably be whether Simons
is going to hear about his chummers being attacked, and try to run. Up to
you, of course. Talk to me soon.]<<<<<

As for the rockets and sundry other gear, why don't you keep them.
Consider them a bonus. If you can't use them, I know I could find a home
for them, then funnel the nuyen back to you.

As for Simons, that slimy bastard won't be getting a chance to slither out
of this one legally. The clients want him geeked. Be creative, have fun.
Fee will be >nice figure<. Good Luck and Good Hunting]<<<<<

>>>>>[The hit - drone cam.

+++++Begin footage

Silent, the drone is hovering among the branches of a tree. Ahead of it and
slightly lower squats Faerie, balancing on a branch with one foot and one
arm holding her in place. As the footage begins, she leaps into space, and
begins to levitate down towards the ground. In one hand she is carrying
what looks like a firearm of some sort, possibly a pistol or small SMG. The
drone follows, keeping a constant distance from her.

Faerie lands on a path below the tree, and walks along it. The path is
bordered by more trees, and slopes gently downwards in the direction Faerie
is headed. Ahead the path veers right, its slope reducing. Straight ahead
is a sheer drop to a large property about three or four metres below.
Faerie follows the path a couple of metres past the turn, then steps to the
edge of the drop. The drone drifts up behind her.

Below her is a small garden set into the side of the hill Faerie has been
walking down. At the edge of the garden is a balcony with a view towards
Downtown, about ten kilometres away. Lake Washington occupies the middle
distance. Any place with a view like this must be expensive.

A man stands on the balcony, dressed in a black suit, a lined coat over it.
His right hand is free, his left holds a cigarette. He takes a drag as he
turns to look in Faerie's direction, the flare lighting up his face for a
moment and showing a look of surprise at Faerie's arrival. Faerie steps off
the edge, gliding down towards him, and he steps forward as she hits the
ground lightly.

"Good evening," she says, "Got a spare one?"

He doesn't answer, instead drawing a pistol. Faerie lunges forwards, still
under levitation power, lifting off the ground as she does so. The man
fires twice, the armour piercing rounds hitting Faerie in the stomach,
going straight through, exiting in a small spray of blood and tissue from
Faerie's lower back. Her lunge is not slowed by the impact, and he reacts
fast, meeting her with a scissors kick to the face, followed up by a
spinning hook kick as her spell fails and she drops to the ground. The
second kick whistles over her head as she falls - the speed it was going,
her neck would probably have been broken if it had connected. Then a laser
dot paints the man's chest and the magically silenced drone opens fire with
something along the lines of an HMG or MMG. Ten or more impacts throw the
man to the ground. The laser dot stays on him, and the drone keeps
firing, the rounds tearing his body apart. From behind the drone and to its
right, there is the sound of someone rolling through ground level foliage,
then Terminal enters the camera's field of view, an AK-98 in one hand, the
other free. Segen follows as Terminal checks Faerie's pulse. The laser
light flicks off, and the drone stops firing.

"Goddamn it!" says Lightning, by radio, "Segen, Term, take Simons, Chas,
patch up Faerie. No trauma patches, remember."

Terminal turns away from Faerie, moving towards the house ten metres away.
Segen follows, an Uzi SMG in his hands. A door swings open, a man in
security guard uniform jandering carelessly through, Terminal has his rifle
up and fires before the guard even knows he is there. The guard goes down,
Segen sprints forwards, leaping over the body and through the door, diving
and rolling. Terminal follows, once inside they are out of the drone's
sight.

Chastity arrives, hunching down next to Faerie, a medkit open in her hands.
She starts to apply field dressings to Faerie's stomach. The drone can't
see much detail of Faerie's injuries, but from Chastity's reaction, they
can't be all that serious.

"She'll live," Chastity reports, speaking into a headset radio, "The lift
as she flew forward must have thrown his aim off... too much higher, and
they would have been sucking chest wounds, not good. AP, so no
fragmentation. Bad news is that Kirk's oh-so-nifty armour was next to
useless. She'll be in agony when she wakes up, and would die in about three
or four hours, but we should be able to get her to Bill's magic fingers
before then. Term, what about you?"

"We've got him," Terminal responds, ""We're bringing him out."

Chastity waits for a moment, then the door opens again, and a moderately
obese man is thrown through it. He lands with a cry, losing his wind,
struggling to his feet. Chastity steps forward, catching his arm and
throwing him to the ground beside Faerie, putting a lock on the arm and
forcing his face into the ground. Terminal and Segen leave the house, Segen
stepping over to Chastity.

"Let the camera see his face," he suggests.

Chastity swivels, twisting the arm she holds to pull the prone man over. He
seems to be whimpering something, perhaps begging for his life. Segen steps
up behind him, looking up at the camera, then puts a short burst into the
back of the man who must be Simons. Terminal throws Faerie over his
shoulder, and the drone follows as he climbs back up the hill to get to the
path.

"We've got company," Lightning says, "Nighty just reported two inbound
Wasps and a squad car - Tomahawk security, SOP for the car is three guys
with SMGs, one with a SPAS-22. The Wasps are trackers, no armament."

"Damn," mutters Terminal.

Chastity and Segen pass him rapidly, weapons still in their hands, and he
speeds up, running up the path.

"How far off are they?" Segen asks.

"Choppers under one minute ETA," Lightning answers after a brief pause
during which he would presumably have been communicating with Nighthawk,
"Car is two or three minutes behind, some sort of trouble with the traffic
lights, apparently - can't imagine how that happened."

Terminal speeds up a little, and the group reach the end of the path. The
car park there is occupied by a single car, a large red convertible with
the top down. Terminal drops Faerie into the back seat then jumps into the
drivers position. Segen leaps into the back seat with Faerie, Chastity
takes shotgun. Terminal pulls out, quickly but competently, and the drone
follows, still maintaining its distance from Faerie.

"Who's got control of the drone?" Terminal asks.

"Faerie's got the R deck in her bag," Lightning replies, "Chas, you pick up
her designator?"

"Yeah, I got it," Chastity replies.

"Sweet," Lightning says, "Term, take the next left, then a right."

A spotlight illuminates the car, and an amplified voice demands attention.

"Pull over! You are under arrest."

Chastity turns, pointing a laser designator at a target behind the drone.
The drone tilts forwards, rocking about with recoil, and the light goes
out. Terminal makes the right turn as directed by Lightning, and ahead of
the car is the ramp leading down to an underground garage.

"That's one Wasp splashed," Segen reports, "Where's the other?"

"No idea," Lightning replies, "Nighty's trying to find out."

"Forget it," Terminal says, steering the car left at the bottom of the
ramp, "We're out of here."

"You forgot your ticket," Faerie tells him, her voice weak, then the
footage stops.

+++++End footage

We torched the car with a WP grenade and hid out in the air ducts for about
an hour while the guys from Tomahawk ran around in circles. It was tough, I
was in quite serious pain, but I've survived worse.

Anyway, Simons was confirmed DOA at the Sisters of Mercy Private Emergency
Clinic, >>address<<, at 01:30 this morning. I'm recovering reasonably well,
though my ego is seriously damaged. 'Til next time.]<<<<<
