>>>>>[Sorry about the break. Had a call I had to return. So where was
I...

Oh, that's right. I had just come in, the assassin was closing with Silver and
Solitaire, and AJ was dealing with a Water elemental.

Ok, what happened next was a surprise to Silver at least, and Solitaire told
me later that she was shocked too. AJ had somehow broken out of the Elemental'sengulf and
made it to the car where he always has his katana. With an annoyed
elemental chasing him, and katana held high, he again came after the guy.
Which was quite a surprise to him, I guess, because he and AJ went after each
other again, this time with katanas instead of hands. There were even a few
times where I was sure that AJ had hurt him, and AJ was sure that he had
injured him with his spurs earlier(later confirmed), but the guy's skill was
still better than AJ's. AJ is fraggin good with a katana, but this guy was
better. Comes with being an assassin, I guess. Wouldn't know, myself...

But then he disarmed AJ and again threw him into the elemental which had been
patiently waiting for AJ to get away from it's "friend" before again engulfing
him. Around now an Earth elemental just popped up from nowhere and blocked
Silver and Solitaire from getting to AJ's car. This is about the time that I
noticed a spectator sitting off watching VERY intently. With the well directed
elemental assults I figured it to be a mage, which she was. So I took off in
her general direction on my bike while drawing my Squirt(never leave home
without it...) and aiming in her general direction. Lo and behold, the
assassin suddenly slows down and gets a little clumsier(but not much, mind you)
as I closed in and her attention snapped back to a little closer too home.
Unfortunately for me, that is. That was about the time she decided to stop
my bike cold. Luckily I jumped and rolled off it and came up well enough to
get a few rounds off. But either my aim was off or she dodged really well or
both and I missed(grumble-gripe-moan). Then she swept my legs out from under
me and I fell, again trying to get my Squirt up and ready, but it was not
to be. I fell, somehow taking her with me, and we began a struggle. That's
the last I saw of the other battle until she went slack and we found everybody
being perfectly polite and all, not fightin or tryin to kill each other anymore.
Again, this is second hand, but I'll do my best. About the time I made contact
with the mage and AJ got sucked up again, the assassin was pulling a sprayer
from a pouch on him and sprayed some really nasty pepper chemical spray into
Silver's face. Didn't blind so much as hurt really bad I hear(Silver offered
to buy some and give me the experience if I liked...I declined) and then he
found that the firing mechanism of the cyberSMG had literally been cut by a
slice from the assassin's katana. About this time the guy took a solid, clean
burst at point blank range from Solitaire, but it literally didn't phase the
dude! Weird...

Then the guy sidekicked the SMG out of Solitaire's hands and dealt with
Silver, who had recovered enough to lunge at the guy. Well, it didn't work.
Not even close. He used some throw or somethin and tossed Silver into the
Earth elemental and stunned him some. But this gave Solitaire enough time to
get out her monosword and start hacking it out with her prospective killer.
But when she and AJ dueled, AJ always won. Easily. And the fact that AJ had
lost to the assassin showed in just how easily he disarmed her. He then
took her by the throat, threw her up against the wall, pulled back his fist,
and....

Stopped. I mean you could literally see the power(arcane no doubt) glowing
on his hands like blue fire, and he had her. And he just...stopped. Nothing
I could see(actually hear, but that's just semantics) stopped him from
doing his job. Until a had appeared, followed gradually by a body, a female
body, with long blond hair(gorgeous...rivals Roxey, if you like blonds. I
prefer..well, maybe that's not relevant here). Cerise had stopped the
assassin from killing Solitaire, just in the nick of time too. When that
happened, the mage I was subdueing just went slack.

The guy was not happy and said somethin like "You'd better have a good reason
for doing that, Cerise." to which she responded with "Wintergreen said for me
to tell you that 'thing's are not always as they seem'". Guess that answered
a question or two in the assassin's mind and he cursed, let Solitaire go, and
literally apologised for almost killing her. Come to find out, she ended up
not being the target.

But after a long talk during which AJ took a look at several bullet wounds
and a couple of long cuts on Deathstroke's body(guess that explains the skill
with the Katana, huh?) we figured out just who hired him. But as I don't
want to spoil DS's fun, I'll leave that for a while. But we did find out just
who was responsible for the destruction of the off-line files on Mil Tech after
Solitaire had nuked the on-line ones. An ex-stockholder of Mil Tech's that
had been forced out by AJ and Moriarity and stockholder vote for breaching
security and maintaining other corporate contacts. I remember him rather
well...and will happily spit on his grave in a day or two, but that's DS's
department{evil grin over the death of someone who ordered his friend killed}.

The only thing that was kinda interesting was that AJ had succeeded in getting
out of the elemental by destroying it in hand-to-hand. Him and his extra-large
lungs kept him conscious and going long enough for him to get the trunk of the
Hudson. I think that I was the only one who saw him(maybe the mage did, but
I can't say for sure) sighting in on DS with the rifle. I got the distinct
impression that had Solitiare died, DS would've been right behind. Why he
didn't just get into the car and fire up its toys is beyond me(overkill maybe?)
but I'm glad that it didn't happen. It was a long night.]<<<<<
