>>>>>[ Well I think things on the Aztech front have finally simmered
down, so it's safe to tell my story. Drek! What am I worried about?
This is ShadowLand; no CorpCops'll see this...

Anyways, I see my friend Matt posted a bunch of security log listings
a few days ago in regards to the run, so I'll just fill in the blanks.

Ya see, it began with us sneaking ourselves in to Corp territory. That
was the relatively easy part. Jacamus had snagged us some Aztech
uniforms from somewhere (no questions asked), so nobody bothered us
except for some eager-beaver, kid CorpCop who "Demanded that we show
our passes before we enter the delivery area, as per Section 227,
Paragraph A of the Aztech Security Manual." One of his superiors, who
was convinced that he knew us (courtesy of a minor disguise
spell on my behalf) just waved us through, laughing at his drekhead
companion.
We got to a back entrance, and Morgue worked his espionage-type skillz
on the security cam. We slipped in, Morgue and Jac headed towards the
Security Office, and Vilya and I started the hunt for Gallagher.
While waiting for the go ahead from M&J, I pulled a quick Astral Scan,
hiding in a nearby coat closet. Gallagher was where he should've been...
and was in the process of summoning up one bad-ass fire elemental to
protect him. He knew we were there! I'd be fragged if I was going to let
that fact stop me though...
M&J snapped me out of my trance, letting me know that the cams and alarms
were shut down on the way to Gallagher's abode. I took out my map, and
followed the route that Morgue had marked for me (anyone ever hear of an
old-type device called a TripTick? Kinda reminded of one of those...).
Anyways, I got to the hallway outside of the apartment, and found three
guards waiting for me. One of them asked me what I was doing there,
demanded a pass, and snuffed it when I took him out with my pistol.
One of the guards darted around a corner, squawking into his headset.
The final guard opened fire on me with his assault rifle, to no avail.
Ya see, Vilya had taken the form of a ring on my finger, and was protecting
me with all kinds of spell-shields. Vilya also lent me a hand, and took
out the guard with a fireball.
Stepping by the remains of Mr. Bar-B-Que, I rounded the corner, and
drilled a hole through the head of the third bewildered CorpCop.
The time had finally come, and without any further thoughts, I shot
the electronic lock on Gallagher's door, and kicked it inward.
The bastard was just standing there, in the middle of his oh-so-posh
living room, with a somewhat amused look on his face.
"Do I know you... novice?", he asked.
"I was Felinius the Great's apprentice, wormfood.", I replied,
summoning up most of my strength to nail him with a hellblast spell.
All I succeeded in doing was vaporizing the entire room, and most of the
wall behind him. His elemental absorbed the brunt of the attack.
"My, my, my... so bloodthirsty for one so young... and so stupid. You're
going to meet the same fate as your master you know.", and with that,
he tried to blast me. I staggered back a bit, but Vilya once again saved
my butt. Looking just a tad surprised, he commented "No matter... there
are other ways to destroy you." He sat himself down on the floor legs
crossed, his eyes began to flutter, his elemental took a more solid form
, and he buggered off into Astral Space. Vilya followed suit with the
elemental, and appeared in the more solid form of an elven warrior to
guard my physical carcass as I too ventured into Astral Space.
Instantly I was assailed by the animated astral forms of Gallagher's
spells. I wielded my magesword, and fought them off the best I could.
When I finally saw an opening in the horde of spell-creations, I
saw Gallagher... a towering, dark cloaked form, with leathery wings jutting
from his back, and cinders for eyes. Fatigued, wounded, and more than
a bit jittery, I leapt at him anyway, his concentration taken entirely
with maintaining the spells. My sword found it's mark, and drove deep
into his heart.
He screamed in agony, and dissapeared from the Astral Plane
instantly.
I also left, and when adjusted to the confines of my physical form,
ran to Gallagher's side. His elemental had either run rampant with his
death, or was destroyed by Vilya... II didn't know then, I still
don't know, and I don't suppose that I'll ever know. Though he was
coughing up blood, and quite obviously at death's door, he managed
a twisted smile.
"Not bad...should...consider a job... with the Corp." he uttered,
coughing and hacking.
"Frag off. Who hired you to do in Felinius?"
He smiled, said "Hirisoto.", and died.
Yes chummers, Hirisoto... as in "Hirisoto Cyberlabs".
Vilya turned itself back into a ring, and we left the charred apartment.
On the way back to the rendezvous point, we realized that something
had gone awfully wrong, however. In hindsight, M&J were found out, and a
security alert was issued. They had escaped, lining the corridors
with explosives on the way out. We were not so fortunate.
An entire security detail bumped into us on the way out. For the
mathematically impaired, that's 20 CorpCops to the 2 of us. They
opened fire on me, but Vilya had me protected. I fired back with
my pistol, retreating along the corridors, and attempting to find an
alternate escape route. I could barely walk I was so tired, and
I'm sure Vilya felt the same.
The CorpCops eventually backed us into a dead-end, and had opened
up on me full force with their hardware. I thought for sure that I
was fragged, when I noticed something that the guards didn't.
Explosives stuck to the walls.
Casting a magic fingers spell, I tweaked the control pad on one of
the bombs to go off immediately.
To make a long story short: Bomb go boom.
With the CorpCops dead, I managed to crawl out of the resulting
rubble, and escape amidst the chaos of the other explosions.
The rest of us rendezvous-ed back at the Smoke Shop... minus
Vilya. I don't have a fragging clue what happened, but somehow,
Vilya didn't make it out. The study of spirits isn't really
my cup of SoyaBeer, but I think that while protecting me, Vilya
was somehow removed from the physical plane. We haven't heard from
it since.
Forge... do you have any idea about what might've happened to
Vilya?
And just digressing for a moment... is anyone else going to the
SKAos concert tonite? Thrashing tunes, that I can easily look
forward to after THAT run...
