+++++begin killjoy.vid

Low-quality video, no sound, apparently from a small cheap wearable camera.

Killjoy is standing on one side of a highway overpass, looking over the
opposite railing at a black limo approaching on the road beneath him. He
turns, pulls out two grenades, arms them, and drops them on the limo just as
it emerges from beneath the overpass.

The image whites-out; when it returns the limo, still mostly intact, has
skidded into the highway divider and is scraping to a halt. Killjoy climbs
over the railing and jumps onto the roof of the car behind the limo. He
lands badly, teeters for a moment, then falls off to the side when the car
hits the back of the limo.

He rolls to his feet, drawing a SMG and charging the limo. A guard is
shooting at him from the broken front passenger-side window. Killjoy
doesn't bother dodging; he just opens fire himself. The guard jerks back
into the limo, hit or simply ducking, as Killjoy reaches the limo.

Killoy fires a couple more bursts into the front seats, smashes the cracked
back-seat window, and empties the clip into it. He follows up with another
grenade and runs toward the overpass, glancing back as the grenade--
incendiary, apparently--goes off.

The driver two cars behind the limo managed to stop without crashing; she
hastily abandons her car when Killjoy gestures emphatically with the gun.
He jumps in, yanks the door shut, and drives off.

Escaped easy. Didn't even have to shoot at any cops. Got patched up by
your doc. Nothing my 'ware couldn't handle, but don't like downtime. Docs
speed things up.

That good?

What a clusterfuck. Someone tipped Curry that we were going to hit his
little terrorist training camp, so he had time to clear out and booby trap
the hell out of the place. I lost three men in the opening minutes when
we HALO'd into a fucking minefield.

The camp was empty and we defused quite a few booby traps -- apparently
Curry expected us to make it that far because he left me a note on his
computer to gloat. He erased all of his files from the system before
leaving, but it looks like he was in a hurry and Alex is optimistic.

Goddamn it, I can't abide a leak.

I've got to be straight with you, Mitchell. The reason I came on board
with SIGA was to exact some revenge on Lynch's killers and to try and help
out with operational things until SIGA got back on it's feet. The current
situation is not what I signed up for, and I'm not sure what my place is
here at the moment. I just

Groton, Connecticut: A UCAS Naval Captain was killed in his home this
evening. Captain William Forsythe, former commander of SEAL Team 15 based
in Groton was recently transferred to Iceland and was due to start his new
job next week. At around 11 PM this evening, an unidentified individual
broke into the victim's home and beat him severely with a blunt object,
most likely a baseball bat according to our sources. After being beaten
nearly to death, the Captain was shot once directly to the center of his
head, killing him instantly. A UCAS Naval Investigative Service says that
they are currently investigating the killing and would not give further
comment.

Just what we don't need. More leaks.

I take it you have suspicions about Forsythe? I'll investigate. Of
course, it's possible Curry may eliminate him at the first sign of
suspicion from us, which would be inconvenient. I know you won't do
anything precipitate, of course, Zach.

I can't compel you to stay here if you feel you're not of use, or if
you're unhappy with the situation. I need good operators, and if you're
unhappy and want out then you're best off out. Hate to lose you if you
go, though. It's starting to look like I'm the last captain of a sinking
ship.

Another leak _really_ has me rattled: one even more damaging than your
suspicions. I think Coppinger was the Farmer. Too many small clues point
that way. Too many hints. It explains a hell of a lot, if it's true. And
Coppinger seems to have vanished off the face of the earth.

If that's true then just about everything SIGA's ever touched is
tainted. The only ship that leaked from the top.

If you're in the area, give me a call. I think I need to go somewhere
safe and quiet, with someone I trust, and get very drunk. Maybe that'll
shake some ideas loose.

God knows I need them.]<<<<<
