>>>>>[ I have both good news and bad news.

First the good news.

+++++ include: Croaker_report

As you can see there are still avenues to investigate, which Croaker's
team is looking at. The other good news is that Nightingale has been
liberated from her maximum security vacation spot. She has been
smuggled out of the country.

The bad news? Well, Doc managed to salvage this video from the leader
of the crew that was responsible for receiving the prisoner and sending
her on her own way. Doc has decided to keep the information from
Croaker. Apologies for the rough footage. Eye cameras are only so
good.

+++++ begin transmission
A van pulls up. A nice beaten up model. The sliding door opens and
two people burst out of it. Both are armed with assault rifles --
probably HKs of some sort. They quickly and smartly take opposite
sides of the road and form a pattern that allows them total view of the
area with watching each other's backs. One person is really tall and
thin, probably Famine. The other is shorter (although not by much) and
heftier. The camouflage makes them hard to see as the move toward the
meeting point. The shorter one has green cybereyes and is probably
War.

Soon afterwards, two more people get out of the van. One is in
camouflage and the other is a woman wearing prisoner garb. The woman,
with beautiful black hair and piercing blue eyes, has obviously seen
better days. The man drags her along by a forcible grip on her right
forearm is a tall man (although not as tall as the first person out of
the van. His features are also very hard to make out, although his
camouflage face paint makes him look like some sort of snake. Possibly
a cobra? Anyway you slice it, though, it is definitely Pestilence.

As the man and the woman make their way to the meeting point, one last
person exists the van. The man, armed with an assault rifle as well,
is very hard to spot in this dim light. However, based on the others,
the crew is now complete. He must be Death.

Death quickly makes up the ground between himself and Pestilence. They
arrive to the person who owns the camera. Even having Pestilence and
Death up close, it doesn't make their features any easier to pick out.
The camouflage is just that good.

The camera owner speaks in German. His german has an accent, but it is
hard to place. "Greetings, Herr Death. I see you brought her. Any
troubles?"

Death indicates no with a quick shake of his head. Pestilence comments
without much attachment, "Her cortex bomb won't go off by accident, but
it is of enough advance quality that it cannot be removed without
killing her. We did the best we could. Besides, if we didn't, you
would have a headless body instead of her here."

She glares at Pestilence but he just looks at her and flicks his tongue
at her once. He then gives her a smirk and looks at the guy.

"Very well then." Two people walk up to Death and Pestilence. One
holds a briefcase. He opens at the feet of Death. Death carefully
inspects the contents (shielded from the camera's view) and then shuts
the case. He proceeds to picks it up and nods to Pestilence who pushes
her hard toward the other man. She stumbles and eats pavement. The
guard picks her up and escorts her to a waiting vehicle.

You watch the vehicle depart as Pestilence hisses, "We do not
appreciate digging around in Nightmare and Blitzkrieg's personal
affairs. We strongly recommend you do not hire us in this manner
again."

As Death and Pestilence depart back toward the van. Death looks back
at the camera man as Famine and War have almost caught up with their
teammates. He says something but it is drowned out by the roar of over
a dozen bikes bearing down on the camera wielder and the van. Death
and his crew get in the van quickly as the van departs as all hell
seems to break loose.

The bikers seems indistinct from the night, but one thing stands out
far too well. A shovel. It slams into the camera with a sound that
sends shivers down the spine.

The transmission breaks up.

Static remains.

+++++ end transmission

The person who was the had the cyber-camera was the first to get mowed
down by the gang. Through a lot of work on Doc's part, he thinks he
has figured out Death's parting comment and who the gang was.

Death's comment [he thinks] was, "Fair is fair. Death is still death."

The biker gang is known as the 'Loners'. They are one of the more
powerful go-gangs in Berlin. We lost everyone on that team except for
the part that smuggled Nightingale out of Berlin. Our position has
been weakened to the point that Panglobal has the entrance into Berlin
that it was seeking. We haven't been completely beaten out, but if
Panglobal's actions are typical of its usual activities, we estimate we
have a week before our operations are completely jeopardized by both
Panglobal and the local competition.

The remaining local faction (which we have so far failed to connect
with Nightmare) is valiantly trying to prevent Panglobal from entering,
but it is already taken steps for the inevitable showdown with them.
It is going to be another bloody autumn and winter for Berlin.

off-time. After the Killing Zone concert there, they will be heading
out to Austin for another job. Before you part ways, review their
cover stories. Make sure it is a tight story.

Meanwhile, I want you to initiate Core Meltdown. As soon as the
operation begins, you are to leave the area and let the other
operatives handle it. I recommend you take some time off. In a couple
of weeks, you will receive your assignment.

Any luck in finding your brother? ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ You disappoint me, Whirlwind.

Wear my uncomfortable boots for a little while. It is a decently known
fact that Nightmare does not like me. I know Legion knows it. Why
else hire us instead of using his own talent? Now, I know the media
encourages short memories, but I know you _know_ why Nightingale is
significant to Nightmare. Thus, you also know what a complicated role
she played in his and his half-brother's past. Now, I don't argue that
Nightmare deserves less peaceful slumber at night, however, I don't
wish that on his half-brother.

What we did by not coming to the aid of your "brothers" is give Legion
a warning. Fair is fair. You leave us hanging out in the dry, we will
do the same. The unfortunate fact is that unless the Mercenary Nets
are lying, Legion needs all the allies it can get. We don't. After
all death comes to us all at some point. Sometimes sooner than we
want.

Surely even you can appreciate that logic, orphan killer. ]<<<<<
