>>>>>[We just found a houseful of corpses. Four, to be precise. Two of
them were killed in the act of raping a streetwalker they'd picked up that
evening. Dead-bang DNA, hair and fibre match to the Redding case.

Looks like someone took care of the issue for us. Smells like a
shadowrunner hit. Vengeance job, maybe, or maybe something else. I'm
not pushing it - we got bad guys who are now dead guys

You'd hardly believe who we ID'd the guys as... get this, they were Aztlan
Leopard Guardsmen. AWOL for a couple of years, allegedly. So now, we've
got Feds and State Department and you-name-it all over the place trying
to handle the case. Suits me fine - I get to close my case and that's all I
wanted.

You might want to let Redding know the news.]<<<<<

I'd
like to confirm, for myself, that this is indeed the end. Not saying I don't
trust you or your colleagues, but I'd like to see if this site has the same
astral flavor that I associated with Janine Redding.

Thanks for you time. If you need a helping brain and another pair of eyes,

responsible for your tragedy have found death themselves. Found shot

Guards.

As I said, I will need to confirm some facts before I officially close out
this foul business, but I wanted to let you know as soon as I recieved the
information myself.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Exact location was >>Tacoma address<<. The bodies are in
the
freezer at Sister Elizabeth Memorial Hospital. You want to double-check, I
figure I can sneak you in there to be sure.

The crime scene? Talk to Andy rather than me, the race you're running is
to look at the apartment before the landlord plasters over the bullet holes,
shampoos the carpet and claims the previous occupant "relocated to
Singapore". Andy's better at that game than I am, that's why I married
him. If you hustle, you can get in there, don't worry about going through
SLand.

I'm pretty damn sure someone snuffed the killers. I'd hazard that it was
Barrens Mob (who knows which?) rather than anything to do with Redding
- it costs to find joytoys cute enough to be good earners, even in the
Barrens, and if you snuff enough of them you'll make yourself a target.
Redding was looking for who and then deciding what to do, someone else
already decided to whack that crew.

But to be honest, I could give a damn. A couple of nasty scumbags caught
a bad case of Death. Too bad. Turns out they're AWOL Leopard Guard.
Not my problem. They might be tied to twenty-odd rape-and-murder
cases in Puyallup and Redmond? I'm under orders not to ask about drek
like that.

All I know is, I got some stiffs that used to be bad guys, who are now
dead guys. I'm under _orders_ not to ask questions. I just close the case
with a fricking smile.

Payback's a motherfucker.

If I've learned nothing else on Homicide, I learned that one fact.]<<<<<

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Don't get me wrong. I'd happily have paid to have them killed. If I thought
I could do it, I'd have killed them myself. I just feel... cheated.

Hell with it. No fault on your behalf. And I appreciate your honesty. These
are the dead guys in Tacoma? The ones that got a Fed team in from DC?
And you're still saying you 'need to confirm'?

Hell with it.

I figure you earned it. Turns out you didn't, I can hurt you, but I don't
wanna go there. Won't bring Janine back. Won't matter.

I'm fifty-three years old, Smiley. Got a sperm count down in single digits
now, even if I had anyone to use it on, which I don't. Not since Rabinda
left.

Janine was all I had for a chance at immortality. And those scumbags
killed her. And someone else killed them. And what the frag did I do to
help?

Some heroic warrior, some protector of his clan, I make...

>>>>>[Thanks for the assistance. And thank Andy for me, I got to the scene

just as the first bullethole was being plastered over. I'm not sure I'm
happy about these monsters being found dead; it's robbed Redding of a chance
for revenge, for a quicker closure. Perhaps it's better this way though. As
long as the monsters are dead I suppose.

I'm not sure I share your opinion regarding a Barrens Mob, or even one of the
local gangs. If it was them, why didn't they take the girl back with them?
If they went to reclaim her that is. If it was another group, why didn't
they take her as a new "recruit"?

My own suspicion is that this was a loophole being closed; it has the same
stench as some corporate clean-ups I've had to clean up after. Who was
closing what loophole and why remains to be answered of course.

The only lead I can think of at this juncture is this. Is anyone from that
Leopard Guard detachment still unaccounted for? If the hitters strike again
we have that avenue opened to us. I also find it very odd that one of them
apparently suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound. What was left of his
aura had a certain...depression, sadness, ennui, hopelessness, something of
that flavor to it. It was too weak and too vague, but there was something of
that flavor.

I'm afraid that while one chapter has been closed, it is far from the end of
the novel.

Regardless, if you need outside assistance, official or otherwise, you have
my LTG and e-mail. And thanks again.]<<<<<

My guess is that they're survivors from the Five Eyes Motel massacre, but
InterPol won't release the files, and all I've got is rumour. Maybe they fell
to fighting among themselves.

About the only clue I can offer you is that there was one shooter. Male,
white, human. Dark clothes. The girl wasn't really looking much. He and
Mr Suicide had a conversation, which she wasn't really listening to.

She can't remember the name he gave, but it was long. He had a "funny
accent", we narrowed it down to southern British. He also said he was
Army, London Something-or-other.

Feel free to look, if you're curious. If I went hunting, I'd have to arrest
him when I found out who he was.]<<<<<
