>>>>>[So, Roarke, what's this I hear about some of the boys loading up and
hauling the mockup of that Gladius hunk of junk to you? You've already
got the Valkyrie, so what do you need the plastic for? A sales pitch for
what you _don't_ want to buy from Ares Aerospace?]<<<<<

>>>>>[Let's just say, word came a few days ago that there were already
prying eyes that knew that the Valkyrie Prototype 1 was here. The idea
was, and that was approved from on high, was that we would keep the
Gladius mockup down here and occasionally let it out so that the
satellites and telephoto lenses can get a peek at it.
Which is fine by us. It was only after they built the mockup for
Farnborough that the production engineers realized that the designers
should have been dragged out into the street and shot. Impossible to
maintain, unsafe tolerances, terrible innate flying characteristics, and
worst of all, uglier than sin. Too bad they forgot the great Kelly
Johnson's wife's rule: if it doesn't look good, it won't fly well.]<<<<<
