>>>>>[ It's been a while since I have done one of these, but I thought
this was relevant for here. There seems to be another "war" brewing. I
would welcome finding out more about it....

I think the true question is: Has aggression transferred from that
bizarre fast food riot that recently took place (machines versus
workers) to an escalating shadow war (which will bring work for all)?
Anyone want to take a guess at what the casualties for this is going to
be?

Rather than bore you with other people's views of what happened (pirate
and legit), I somewhat researched the events myself.

It seems earlier about 4pm today [Boston time], a tip came into the
Federal Bureau of Investigation's hands. It seems someone wanted to
make a point involving small kids. The Feds (with assistance from the
local police) emptied out a local boarding school. While details are
still sketchy, they searched the whole school and found a nasty bomb.
(Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find out what type of bomb was
actually planted.) After much effort, they disarmed the bomb, only to
set off an undetected counter-measure bomb that showered the room in
confetti, with hundreds of computer synthesized, pre-recorded voices
saying (and some screaming), "Congratulations!"

The media is swarming the event, so I'm sure we will all be bombarded
with more "news" of that event. I doubt much of it will be of use.
Anyone know the scoop on this one?

I will point out that I do find it interesting that almost nobody wants
to mention what else was going on while they were disarming the bomb.
Undoubtedly, you are asking, "Why, Ratspeak?" I can only currently
only offer this to you: "Perhaps they don't want to ask the serious
question of themselves. Perhaps they don't want to admit their fear of
‘the Wanderer' resurfacing."

"_The_ Wanderer?"

"Yup." Word is out that somebody has hired him, and he is already on
the war path. The latest causality was O'Malley's Pub at
>>encrypted<<. The one ork bouncer for the place was sniped. Moments
later, the Wanderer entered the bar.

[The speculation on the time lengths are based on my estimation. Word
is that it happened blazingly fast.]

Not even a minute later, one man was crucified, and seven other people
(6 men, 1 woman) were killed including the bartender who went down,
umm, "fighting." As an after-thought, police think that the Wanderer
gunned down an under-aged drinker --"just because." Several people at
the bar have been seriously questioned by the police over the incident,
and about the amount of illegal weaponry found on the premise. I
expect the place to be closed for a while as the authorities seriously
investigate the matter, and several incidental arrests to be made in
the process. [What's a little more injury to the previously insulted
parties? Huh? Oh yeah, the old addage applies. Kick a mangy dog when
its down. ]

The Wanderer remarkably left the area pretty quiet, only injuring about
seven more people and causing a nasty three car pile up, by randomly
firing into traffic. They found the van that was used in the get away,
but first wave of forensics have turned up absolutely nothing other
than the fact that the van was stolen hours before the "raid." (Which
wasn't even a forensic discovery.)

For more information on the event, including local [Boston] analysis go
to >>node<<. A raging debate as to whether the Wanderer was involved
with the whole bombs incident and if so, to what nerfarious purpose.
Right now, although it is losing ground, the paranoids in the bunch
haven't put it past him to hire other people to do the bomb as a false
alarm. I don't know if I agree with them on that issue though.

However, based on what was found in the pub, a lot of people are
wondering if this is only the beginning. And if so, the beginning of
what? Especially since the Wanderer was indirectly quoted having
yelled, "I don't care how many people I have to question! I will find
the answers, heretics!" ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Why thank you for the cheerful news, Ratspeak! I'm sure
everyone will sleep a lot easier with news of the return of the
Wanderer.

I found the node you referenced to be very informative and interesting.
I especially enjoyed the speculation on just what the monster known as
the Wanderer was capable of, because their opinions are absolutely
fascinating. Based on his reputation from the locals, he sounds like
just the type of person I would like to employ. ]<<<<<

Are you completely off your trolley? From what I've seen of Wanderer,
albeit second hand stuff and rumours, he's not someone to employ at all,
unless you've just declared war on some nation somewhere. The man's a
seriously dangerous fuck up.

He crucifies people for cryin' out loud. That fashion went out
centuries ago.

Ratspeak. Is there a reason for your interest in this? And do you need
help? Boston's kind of my home town - well, I was born there for what
it's worth. If this loon is going to be tearing the city a new hole to
bleed from I might be tempted to assist in preventing his continued
liberty.]<<<<<

Against the Wanderer no less. Remember, the guy who beat the living
fuck out of Haze and the others? Yeah, well, him.

Have a look, and then go and kick Marathon in the nuts for me. I'll be
back in Seattle tomorrow morning. We can't let Marathon get involved,
it's way over his damn head. Not even my power can save him if we face
that creature.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Oh yeah, right, like work has been flooding our way huh? Since
Paraquat blew up on the board at that silly cow Lillith, all we've had
are offers of work to assassinate her and that Lynch. Have you seen the
continual fucking remarks that followed? The snide remarks degrading
his memory and belittling what he was? I don't want to kill her, or any
of her fucking family, though I've been sorely tempted. The only way to
get something else is to do something else. Other work. If that means
we fuck off to Boston and chase Wanderer for a while so what. We're
dead in Seattle anyway. Lillith has seen to that. Bitch. Her and her
fucking cronies.

I don't see that having his butt spread to the four winds has hurt Haze
any, he's been working from what I hear. Have we? You might object to
wet work Monolith, but there are times when it's a way to feed the
family. If Ratspeak, or his friends want help, they'll get it, you can
stay at home if you're too scared of the rumours surrounding the
Wanderer. Don't forget most of his reputation _is_ based on rumours.
He's not a god, just a man and as a man, he can be killed or stopped
like any other. If we can't get any other work, then I'll accept the
contract from that fella who keeps pestering us, and we go after Lillith
and her gang of blowhards. What the hell else is there?]<<<<<

Better opportunities. I'll talk to you when I return tomorrow. There
