>>>>>[Here it is then, the record of Evita's little expedition, courtesy of
your Cat-shaped correspondant. Still no idea what exactly she was up to...
I suppose we could ask...

Anyway, she met this street sammy type (who drives a WestWind, I might add)
at around 0300 this morning, and they went into the Redmond barrens. They
stopped near this ganger house at >>address<<. They paused in an alley for
a while, and Evita sent a spirit in to take a look at the place. Then they
settled down to wait for a while, until the noisiest of the festivities had
died down, then...

+++++Begin footage

The gang-house is low and squat, two stories of brown faux-brick facade and
slimy gutters. Most of the windows are intact, the odd broken one looking
like rotten teeth in a squatter's grimace.

The view is from an alley, and includes two silhouetted people, both of
whom seem to be human. One is male, one female, and both are dressed in
dark clothing. The male checks the action on a heavy pistol, then puts it
back in its holster.

"Okay," he says, "Let's roll."

The woman nods, then throws her head back in the traditional summoner's
pose. A smallish disturbance in the air becomes visible against the
brighter light of the street. The woman speaks quietly to the disturbance,
and it shoots off across the street, passing straight through a broken down
and burning car at the side of the road.

"It's starting," says the woman after a moment.

The male steps out of the alley and walks quickly across the road, pausing
outside the door to the gang-house. He puts a hand under his leather coat,
then enters, pulling his pistol as he does so. The female in the alley
waits.

That's all from outside for a while. I got this next bit from the building
security system... the various components weren't very well integrated, but
the individual bits weren't bad for gangers, they must have had a decker or
two in the group at some time... shame (or good thing, depending on your
perspective) they weren't actually paying attention to their tech-toys...

+++++Begin footage

The view is of a hallway, dark and messy. There is no one present. In the
top left corner of the view a fire icon flashes on and off with a frequency
of about a second. The time stamp in the top right reads 04:35:37.

Below the camera, a door opens, and a dark-clothed man steps in. He is
wearing a long leather coat, and holds an Ares Viper heavy pistol. He
advances down the hallway, moving in a high crouch, and opens a door
through which a stairwell is visible. The door swings closed and for a
moment he is visible, taking cover under the stairs.

Then an alarm goes off, and yells are heard from above. After a moment
three gangers shove their way through the door to the stairs and start to
run out of the house. They are followed by another four, then more, all of
whom flow out through the door below the camera.

+++++Footage spliced... shift to upstairs camera

The view is similar, once again of a dark and messy hallway. Smoke fills
the top of the hall, and a flickering light is visible, presumably coming
from flames to the left of the camera's field of view.

The door at the far end from the camera opens, and the dark-clothed man
enters, at a run now. He cuts into a room to the right, about halfway down
the corridor. By the time he leaves the room, the flames have started to
move into the field of view, and the smoke is thicker. The intruder now
carries a small blue porcelain jar. He looks around, then sprints to the
far end of the corridor, breaking a window there with a powerful kick then
diving through it in a smooth continuous motion. He lands on the fire
escape outside, rolls to his feet, then moves quickly out of sight.

+++++End footage

Okay, back to cat-cam. I cut out the several minutes of waiting, BTW.

+++++Begin footage

The view is once again of the gang-house from the alley. The female shape
is waiting there, looking at the building, shifting worriedly. Smoke is
pouring out of a broken window, and flames are visible on the roof and at
the top left of the structure. There is a knot of gangers standing around
at the base of the house, looking up and swearing. There are remarkably few
other spectators.

Suddely the camera lurches, moving forwards, there is a sharp yowl, and a
dark figure steps over the fallen POV.

"Ronin?" asks the female figure.

"Yeah, I went out the back way," says the man who kicked the camera-cat, "I
got the ashes too."

"Yeah, I know, I had a spirit on your tail," says the woman, "And yeah,
let's go."

They leave the alley, passing the camera, which avoids them by hiding under
a dumpster. The woman watches the cat suspiciously, then winks at it, but
leaves without saying anything.

+++++End footage

As you will have seen, she seems to have spotted me at the end there... oh
well, I guess I can claim that it was friendly concern... and hope she
doesn't take me down to the dojo and kick my arse for me...

Anyway, see you at the next meeting... and, come to think of it... do we
want to advertise for some more members? It'd cut down on expenses...]<<<<<

Say, does our group have a name yet? And I don't think advertising
would be such a bad idea.]<<<<<
