TERROR ATTACK ON 4th CELEBRATION SMASHED BY POLICE
A superbly-planned Lone Star operation thwarted an attempt to turn
Seattle's Fourth of July celebrations into a terrorist bloodbath. Scores
of officers, assisted by a Federal hazardous-material team, evacuated
the Metro Center within minutes of discovering that a fanatical splinter
group had added some high-explosive munitions to a planned firework
display. Six of the terrorists were trapped at the scene and killed when
they refused to surrender to police officers.

Jolly Roger Security, responsible for screening the pyrotechnics
engineers, were unavailable for comment, but Lone Star sources described
the weapons as "lethal but inconspicuous" and declined to assign blame.
"This was a sophisticated, intelligent attack. It would have killed
hundreds if it had worked." was one off-the-record quote.

Asked about the HazMat teams and the use of respirators and MOPP suits
by many of the backup units, the same source replied "We needed to get
people's attention. There was very little threat of biochem weapons, but
it was a good way to get everyone's attention and get them moving."

The one real downside... some smartass is going to see a cop or a
soldier in NBC gear telling them to move, and decide it's "just for
effect". Still, better that than admit "we let the Bad Guys get one push
of a button from successfully deploying a highly lethal bioweapon over a
crowd of VIPs"

I didn't get noticed and nobody's screaming about black helicopters and
demanding subsidised tinfoil helmets. All to the good.

But we stamped all over the Bad Guys and we won this round.

Seconds will soon be called away for the next, though. A word to the
wise... it's going to get harder and harder to not choose a side. Not
big jumps, but stepwise changes.

Bear it in mind.]<<<<<
