LONDON-- SAS forces disabled the next step in Greenwar's terrorist
escalade against the NS1 project.A safehouse in the Lamberth Containment
zone was stormed , revealing concrete plans for simultaneous bombings of
all the local offices of corporations related to the project.
600 kilos of c12 compound and structural layouts of most of the target
buildings were seized , along with a large quantity of military weaponry
of American and Tir Nan Og make.
The terrorists died in the firefight , not before trying to detonate the
explosive.Disaster was avoided due to the heroic actions of Sgt.Val Moran,
MetPol explosives expert.(SEE >article "A life of Risk" .

LONDON----

Victims of the recent Greenwar terrorist attack held under quarantine in
St.George's hospital have begun to show a reaction similar to the toxic
shock of the dreaded VITAS plague. However, the standart vaccination
treatments have proven innefective.Doctors at St. George's expressly
state that the agent is not aerosol-vector and that the populace is safe.
Strangely , Greenwar has made no demands up to date.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ There are other Special Air Services as well, which have, or used to
have connections with the British Army SAS. There are SAS regiments in
Australia, New Zealand, and Malaysia, I believe. But none are as famous
(or perhaps, notorious) as the 22nd Regiment of the Bristish Army. To even
be considered for addmittance to the Regiment, you need to march almost 50
miles over the Welsh mountains, within 24 hours, carrying a heavy rucksack,
packed with supplies and ammunition, and carrying a heavy assault rifle.
Furthermore, you are meant to be able to do this without any augmentation,
cyberware or bioware. Candidates who already have had cyber/bio-ware installed
that may give them an advantage must do a longer march. Joining the SAS is a
bad move career-wise, as you start off at the lowest rank upon joining,
although, when you are transferred back to your original regiment, you will
regain your previous rank. The training is gruesome, and taxing. However,
the SAS are the elite of the special forces. They can put the Commandos, the
Rangers, the Green Berets, Delta Force and any shadowrunning team you care
to mention to shame. They are equipped with the best equipment available, and
their cyberware is top of the range, generally supplied by Transys Neuronet.
They are _the_ best, and the few ex-SAS soldiers who have entered the shadows
are probably the most feared shadowrunners in Europe. Oh yeah, and they have a
cool motto: "Who Dares, Wins".

I'll tell you this much, if I ever came across an SAS soldier, or an ex-SAS
soldier, I would be damned careful, coz these guys are trained killers. They
don't take hostages, as has been demonstrated dozens of times, when they've
been called in to break terrorist sieges. I remember once, a bunch of Deep
Green terorists took over the Italian Embassy in London, and held the staff
hostage, threatening to kill them all unless the Italian government stopped
something or other that was polluting the Med. Anyway, there were seven
terrorists, but after the SAS came out, only one was still alive, and that was
only because he'd been protected by some of the women staff, who had a soft
spot or something for him. I am telling you, the SAS kicks ass.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Yeah, you're talking about GSG-9,who are mainly an anti-terrorist
unit.
I don't think that the GSG-9 guys were really soldiers. They're more kinda
like glorified SWAT teams, dealing with hijackings and sieges, and so on,
whereas the SAS, as well as being internationally renowned as siegebreakers,
(they often go to other countries to break sieges, at the invitation of the
government there. In fact, I seem to remember something about an Israeli
airliner that was hijacked by Palestinian guerrillas back in the 1970's or 80's
that was chased around the world by the SAS and they finally caught up with it
in Germany, and, instead of GSG-9, or the Israeli special forces going in, it
was the SAS. I'm not too sure about that one, though...) they are damned good
soldiers as well, and specialise in going in deep behind enemy lines. Back in
the 1980's it was Major Michael Rose, commanding officer of the SAS in the
Falkland Islands conflict between Argentinia and Britain, who accepted the
Argentinian surrender on the islands. And, of course, their involvement in
the EuroWars is fairly famous by now. In fact, I think that the only place
you could claim they were defeated was in Northern Ireland, but at that time,
they were combatting magic, with no magical firepower of their own. Now, of
course, they have within their ranks some of the best combat mages in the
world. ]<<<<<
