Don't know 'bout the chemical composition, but I had a nasty dose of
something called Laes stuck in me 'bout a year back. It knocks you out
and can erase up to half a day's worth of drek from yer noggin'. Damned
annoying, lemme tell ya. Not only did I ferget where the meet was and
who was there, I couldn't find where I parked my Scorpion for
DAYS!!!]<<<<<

>>>>>[Hal--

Regarding Laes, your "normal sources" probably don't know much more
about the drug than what has appeared in a few published reports on its
use by Tir Tairngire law enforcement. (That last term used rather
loosely.) I believe it has posed some difficulty to early analysis
because it relies on Awakened flora or fauna in its recipe. I figure
its composition is a closely guarded subject, which is another reason
for your sources to be silent on the subject. I suppose if someone knew
the right sources, it _could_ be procured, but given its reputation, I
suppose you would have to pay a pretty penny to get some.

Your earlier chem report might has well have been written in Swahili for
me, but I can tell you Laes isn't the only drug out there that can cause
memory loss. Some are more expensive than others, and from what I hear,
you get what you pay for in terms of the quality and duration of memory
blocking. Some just block or garble the transfer from long to short
term memory, the nasty ones start to mess with long term memory, but are
not very specific in what they wipe out. They're more common than you
might think. Heck, every few years you hear of a Rohypnol scare in some
club scene, with some jerk slipping girls "roofies" in their drinks, and
they wake up the next day, violated, and with little or no memory of
what had happened to them.

Bad news is that what memories the drugs do wipe out are usually gone
for good because they actually prevent the memory from being recorded
properly or mess with the way your brain has stored the memory. But the
damage done to long-term memory is usually spottier and less exact, so
maybe there will be bits and pieces left if you can somehow dig them up.
I don't know about the Awakened drugs for sure though, but I figure
much of what I said goes for them, too.

I don't think there is any drug that will erase a specific memory. Too
bad, really, I figure everybody here has a memory or two they would
rather erase.]<<<<<
