>>>>>[The delivery went through, Malone's got his new encoder, and we
own that phone.

A Mitsuhama T1440K3 plug-in encoder. 32768-bit encryption on a rolling
cycle keyed to a one-time-pad random number generator. Costs over ten
grand at the factory gate, easily five times that retail (if you can find a
retailer). Even NSA would break into a sweat cracking _that_ code.

Except, now, we're in on every call he uses that encoder for.

Am I good? Or am I good?

Here's the proof that it worked.

M: Seamus P. Malone
C: Luciano Cesare

M: So, Lucky, how's Seattle?

C: Better for not having that Descabiere jerk in it.

M: Other than that?

C: Well, Tomas managed to antagonise most of the locals already. That's
got to be a record. We've got Wells' place sterilised, we even asked
Customs to do an audit.

M: _Nice_, my boy! How will we bring stuff in?

C: Jammers and smugglers, short-term. Expensive, but we'll be watched
for a while. Wells had cut some lucrative deals, I'm maintaining them.
We'll soon be generating some useful cash.

M: There's got to be a downside.

C: We'll be treading on toes. This part of Tacoma's Yak turf. Riku
Matsehori and his Black Falcons. I'm trying to avoid provoking him, but
I can't promise he won't take offence. Plus there's others on the
fringes...

M: Put them in their places if you must. I can't afford to lose a Seattle
base again. Eric was a greedy screwup, I trust _you_. Do whatever you
have to do to hold onto our position there.

C: Okay. I'll try to avoid a war if I can, though.

M: Good. What about that Fed? Elliott?

C: No word since he left Puyallup. As long as we keep a low profile, we
should be okay.

M: How are you handling distribution?

C: The civil service. <Laugh>. It's amazing what you can buy over-the-
counter these days. <Laughs again> One-stop shopping.

M: Same as back home? That's probably a novelty for Seattle.

C: No competition. No problems, yet. I think we surprised them for a
change.

M: Why did Eric never consider that?

C: He was too busy chasing showgirls and models.

M: Like that bitch he married.

C: Yeah... we missed a chance there.

M: I am _not_ cutting a deal with a dancing girl from Reno. No how, no
way. I'll take care of Minnie in my own sweet time.

C: Okay... anyway, we're back in town. Precarious, but we've got a good
start. Anything else?

M: Nah. You get busy. Let me know how it goes.
+++++end call

Clear as a bell, word for word. For a while at least, we're on the inside
track.

>>>>>[Hey, did that job for ya. You shouldn't have to worry about Picket
anymore, or his body guards. I got their ears for ya! Meet me at
>>encrypted<< if you want them. If not here's something else for you:

The camera opens up with a pan of a small bungalow, out in the middle of
nowhere inparticular. It then zooms in on three elves, two in front of
one. The two seem to be concentrating on something other than what's in
front of them.

Then out of the bushes pops out a large orc with a couple of wires
jutting out of a couple places, and a cyberarm. He crunches the two
elves skulls together, they're on the ground, face down in the mud. The
ork proceeds to light up a death stick, and start talking to the third
elf. He's using lots of body language, and loud voices. He then
proceeds to set one of the uncouncious elves on fire, and rips the ears
off of the other one. After that, he walks by the camera, and into the
distance.

Riveting wasn't it? I thought so. I'm gonna hafta find out who that
cameraman was so I can congratulate him.]<<<<<

Consider that a bonus. If you don't mind, I and the boss will keep you
in mind for any other times we need that sort of work doing.

Keep the ears, the boss has her own set.]<<<<<
