>>>>>[Well, looky here. Just as the Puyallup media were really enjoying
deriding Lieutenant Hart and the Tarislar Special Task Force as a bunch of
incompetent failures, look what happens the moment they leave. The
articles are much the same, but read the trend in the headlines.

VIOLENCE FLARES ACROSS TARISLAR

DOZENS KILLED IN PUYALLUP MOB FIGHTING

LONE STAR "HELPLESS TO INTERVENE"

MAFIA BOSS'S DEATH SPARKS OPEN WARFARE

"WHERE ARE THE COPS?" CRY TARISLAR LEADERS

MORE MOB KILLINGS IN BARRENS

"OVERSTRETCHED" LONE STAR WITHDRAWS PATROLS

"UP TO THIRTY DEAD" IN MAFIA STREET WARS

What a night that was. As far as I can tell from the headlines, at least
half-a-dozen of the late Eric Descabiere's business sites changed hands last
night. The death toll seems exaggerated, I can't find more than half-a-
dozen confirmables yet, but it certainly got loud and noisy.

Luigi Bartolo is out of the shadows and now he's calling himself _Don_
Luigi, with a piece of Tarislar that stretches from Easyville right up to the
Fort Lewis boundary... where he meets Dona Minnie's turf. And the two
had a dinner date last night, in plain view while the fighting raged.

Thing is, there was enough lag between Eric's death and the mayhem
kicking off, that I don't think either of them were responsible... They
weren't poised and waiting, they just didn't seem particularly surprised.

Especially not Bartolo, whose hitters seemed to be coming out of every
shadow at once, tooled up _way_ heavier than anyone expected.

Dona Minnie took a much more pragmatic approach and managed quite a
peaceful takeover of her targets. The deputy manager at "Murphy's" got a
bad case of buckshot, but that was it.

It hasn't dropped off completely - a security goon at "Chrome Empire" got
a chunk of his own Uzi blown through his ribcage earlier tonight, for
instance - but the wilder street warfare seems to have stopped. I guess
the late Don Eric's crew either declared for Minnie, got grabbed by Luigi,
or decided to lay low.

'Course, they could try to do to Bartolo what Luigi did to Descabiere... but
in Tarislar, being a human mobster with a bad track record works against
you there.

I wonder, how I wonder, what will happen next?]<<<<<
