Good morning, ma'am.

"Good morning, John. Anything hot?"

It appears that the Germans are on aerial maneuvers near the Polish
border. With the recent diplomatic difficulties, it is only to be
expected. A show of force from the Germans. The Poles are likely to
respond in kind later today. There's also a good sized Azzy fleet not
too far outside of the Caribbean League's territorial waters. It appears
to be another show of force. A Yamatetsu fleet is engaged in maneuvers
near Hawaii, Saeder-Krupp has it's fleet cruising around the Baltic,
heading toward Estonia and Lithuania, Fuchi launched a Killer sattelite
that should be inserted into a stable orbit within an hour, and Ares
Macrotech is moving troops from Detroit to London.

"Is that all?"

Excepting that we are now less than 35 minutes from our Court imposed
deadline, that is all I currently feel is 'hot', yes.

"And what about warm?"

We have heard a few rumors that something big is going down, but I've not
heard any specifics. There's been unusual activity around FuchiUK, S-K
HQ, various Knight-Errant and Ares installations around the world.
Considering that the biggest thing to happen recently involves us, I find
it reasonable to propose that the something might involve Maxim. Add in
the fact that we don't know what the Court will do when we haven't
complied to thier demands, I suspect some form of retaliation. However,
intelligence has been unable to tell me precisely what form the
retaliation will take.

"Why not?"

We simply do not have the nearly infinite intelligence resources we used
to, ma'am. The Org died and we consolidated much of what was left under
our control. We didn't tell the Court and rest of the world every agent
we had, but it will take years, perhaps even decades, to recover, if we
ever do. Simply activating various sleepers will not suffice, as we'd
only destroy our future intelligence base for current gains.

"No, I'd much rather not know exactly what is going on for now and know
exactly what's going on in 20 years than vice versa. Those agents are an
investment in the future."

Precisely, ma'am.

"And how about our 'compliance' with the Court? Is it going well?"

Perfectly. Three weapons have been consolidated to the Phenom Penh
plant. We have boosted the security systems there to keep them from
being stolen by anyone. I have placed three additional platoons at the
plant, and will augment them with an additional 3 platoons within the
week. The weapons we have already there are well guarded around the
clock by fully armed and armored troops. That particular facility was
one of our most secure after the regional HQs due to the nature of the
area, and we've increased it's normally extreme security quite a bit. In
addition to the normal troops, tanks, choppers, and powered armor, I have
dispatched 4 Quads to the area and several of the prototypes. It should
be well defended.

"And the weapons in transit?"

Two are coming by ship, the rest ostensibly by air. The one exception is
the orbital bomb. That will be moved by aerospaceplane, but we've
intentionally placed it in a very difficult orbit to intercept, both to
keep it from being easily destroyed by the Big 8 and so we can't easily
retrieve it. The shipborne weapons are at least a week away, and the
rest haven't even been moved yet. We are using the "safeguards" excuse,
and will continue to do so....

+++++ Communication coming in: Fuchi to all Corporate and National
Goverments: Message Follows.

My apologies for the breach of standard protocol, but the sattelite we
recently launched has gone out of control. It was hit by a
micro-meteorite in the control processor, firing the station-keeping
thrustors and destroying our ability to force it to perform catastrophic
atmospheric reentry. It is out of control. Here are all the
trajectories we have for it, so you all may ensure that none of your
facilities or sattelites are destroyed by the runaway sattelite.
However, analysis shows that it will graze several sattelites, hopefully
being destroyed in the process. If it is not, analysis shows that it is
on a direct collision course with the Peregrine Station, owned and
operated by Maxim Arms in approximately 40 minutes. Our apologies. We are
willing to aid in the evacuation of Peregrine Station and to recompense
Maxim Arms, or any interest, for damaged orbital assets.

That's a Killer, ma'am.

"Download data to MAero and Peregrine."

Already done. We and Fuchi combined don't have enough available assets
to evacuate Peregrine, or even the most important personnel from the
station. I recommend we destroy the sattelite.

"Peregrine's weapons are last resort weapons, John. Wyverns?"

We have three in orbit now, and we can have several more lifted in time
to intercept.

"Use two and lift two. Fully armed just in case. Inform Fuchi and all
affected interests that we will take care of the sattelite, and that they
owe us. I'll contact the lawyers and get the litigation for damages and
services rendered without payment going."

Yes ma'am. This could be the beginning of problems. Recommend we go to
alert status.

"Do it."

We are at alert status, ma'am.

+++++ Awaiting confirmation.....Peregrine, Sidney, Quito Confirmed +++++

Ma'am, two from Peregrine are scrambling as I speak, and one each from
Sidney and Quito will lift off within 5 minutes, fully armed.

+++++ Trajectory analysis uploading..... available +++++

CS confirms stated trajectory. However, it's too perfect. The killer
won't even come close to grazing any sattelite but will impact exactly at
the center of gravity of Peregrine.

"Play along, then. Collateral damage from our destruction of the sat
needs to coincide with the destruction of at least one Fuchi sattelite."

Understood. CS will get right on it. I recommend you join me in here,
ma'am. If the drek hits the fan, you'll be more able to control it from
here than your office.

"On my way down. Have an interception target area when I arrive."

Yes ma'am.
