mission... some people came to get the guy we were staking out, and we follwed them, and
eventually took them on the road. Faerie mindraped one of them, so we know where the local
big cheese Tohunga is (they call the shamans and elders that... not unlike the Hawaiian
Kahuna). And we're heading there now.]<<<<<

seperatists are going to set up a ghost dance style ritual and wipe out a large area of
prime agricorp land... an unexpected development. And then she decides that she's going to
help them! It seems her UCAS Spook Johnson has screwed her, so she's pissed enough to frag
him up any way she can. Watch the news - we don't know when it's supposed to happen yet,
and we have to try and convince the seperatists that we're on their side now. Should be
both easy _and_ fun.]<<<<<

Johnson's I've contacted in the past, and he who hasn't been wishing for a

way of making themselves immanently forgetable, though. If you could
float out a location, affilication / target (who he works for / against),
or anything else useful, you might be able to get more hits. Could hurt
to mention what the info would be worth to you, given a number of slackers
who smell easy cred for bogus data, but might help jog some memories
loose.

Seattle to assist a CIA op. All CIA contacts in country have been dead for months. We're
in a shitpot little country down the end of the pacific, and we're surrounded by a country
full of genetically modified sheep. Anything you can dig up the guy pictured would be
greatly appreciated... My deck is pretty much crippled by the fact that bandwidth is
strictly limited in the way of connections between NZ and the real Matrix. Apparently
something the called the Southern Lights Cable was supposed to fix everything, but the
ground wasn't properly blessed by a fuckin' tohunga or something, so work was halted.

Anyway, what I mean to say is >>reasonable amount<< for some decking
work... you interested?]<<<<<

>>>>>[That NewzJunkie fucker blew me off totally... scared of the CIA,
apparently.

Regarding the ritual, there were two mountains involved. Ronin, Maddock,
and Clancy were on one of them, and Faerie and Sav took the other. We'd
managed to convince the rite masters that we were on their side, and
each group had a bunch of the local gangers... they're called the
Mongrel Mob, and they're much tamer than the Seattle gutterpunks - for
example, they didn't eat Maddock after he bought it. It was only a
subsonic round, but at least one of the guys who came at us was a hell
of a good shot.

What happened was a team of UCAS commandos (we think) came and attacked
each of the two mountains on which it was going down. They didn't have
much in the way of heavy weapons - Ronin's guess is that they were
operating covertly and couldn't get the right gear in time. On mount
Ruapehu, Faerie, Sav, and their bunch of gangers managed to fight them
off... the commandos regrouped at the bottom of the hill, but by that
time it was all over.

On our mountain, Maddock led the gangers in a mad charge - about half of
them were stupid enough to follow. So he got wasted, as did half our
support. It wasn't hard after that for the commandos to break through
our line, and they managed to fight their way into the ritual. We got a
few more of them as they headed back down the mountain, but it was
pretty hollow really. Ronin was pissed about it, too. Mostly because he
considered it a waste of ammo - but I thought I detected some sympathy
for the attackers. Some sort of warrior code of honour thing maybe.

So, anyway, the ritual got pretty thoroughly interupted. On the plus
side, they killed off Maddock.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Well, things are finally starting to happen. Ronin’s contact came
across the strait a couple of nights ago on a radar-transparent (or some damn thing)
yacht. We headed north as soon as she got here.

Ended up in this little farming town, Wanganui, staying in a cheap
flophouse, pretending to be american tourists. Getting a lot of crap
from the locals - as I said earlier, not a good time to be an american.
Still, fraggin' locals, probably wouldn't have any time for yank
tourists anyway.

The contact, "Faerie" (:P :b :P :b) - man, what a bitch. Ronin's paying
the tab, and she immediately takes control of his crew, like she's
running the mission. Which is not what I was given to understand, I
thought we were busting her out of something. In the drive up, I
renegotiated the contract, due to not knowing any of the mission goals,
and Ronin coughed up about >>small sum<< extra (which was about equal to
the weekly, so I settled for that), without her even asking him to. I
guess she's used to guys being bent around her finger... but not used to
bent ones, not interested in her finger.

I might be too busy to drop you a line for the next couple of weeks, but
I’ll hose something off if I get a chance.]<<<<<

Dunedin. Strange that the family of an anti-seperatist would know the ID of the local
seperatists... small town telepathy, I guess. Anyway, we're going to see him tonight, and
it'll probably be a hard meet. I'll be screwing with the Wanganui Police just in case, and
I'll hook you up with a sim version sometime soon... assuming I survive, that is :)

[The Wanganui matrix barely deserves the name... a deserted plain of
obsidian with only five or six corporate nodes to be seen. A cluster of
smaller nodes gather beneath them, but all around is empty. The absence
of lines to other major cities is explained by a huge lightning bolt
themed pulse of data from out of the distance - obviously they can't
afford a permanent link.]

Talk about high tech. All I had to do was initiate 129 incoming data
pulses (at about 10 nY a pop), and down it went :P. Stickin' it to the

now know where he's hiding out, and they're waiting for him to go to his superiors or get
picked up or whatever.

As for the 129 phone lines... they've got a seperate system for long
distance phone communications... some wrinkle in the privacy laws make
the level of supervision required to run the matrix illegal when it's
applied to phone conversations. Wierdos.]<<<<<

north island anyway (two islands, remember?). The south island apparently got abandoned
sometime this century, and it's all owned by corps, bandits, and drug growers. Sounds like

and still no action. I guess that's not too bad though, thanks to Ronin's retainer.

Tell you what, you should come visit if you can gather the necessary
datawork - this place is amazing. We're in a city, and there are _real_
trees all over the damn place. They've got much stricter pollution
controls than anywhere back on the continent. Of course this only comes
from not bending over quite as far for the mega's as what everyone else
does... and that comes from lefty liberal wishy-washy types being in
power. Of course the economy's fragged, and unemployment is as high as
in Seattle, so it's not all candy and roses.

Sample from today's paper: "Two die in car wreck" - now who in Seattle
would even give a damn. No-one, right? This was front page stuff here.
_So_ boring! And the matrix is all running on five to ten year old
machines, plus they don't use black IC out here. Hell, the cops don't
even carry sidearms! It's a runner's paradise.]<<<<<
