>>>>>[Well, it seems that either Fate has a great sense of timing, or else
certain folk turned out to be less untouchable than they thought.

Word from Vegas is that there's a minor, discreet bloodbath underway in
and around the Mistral Hotel and Casino, on account of its owner - one
Seamus Padraig Malone - having come down with a slight case of Death.

Vegas coroner says 'natural causes' - apparently he dropped dead of a
coronary while boffing some showgirl. And if you believe _that_ I have
some national monuments for sale.

Anyway, with Malone gone there's a vacuum, and we _know_ Nature and
greedy scumbags hate a vacuum, so there's a squabble going on to see
who gets to fill it. I'll see what I can dig up about who's hot and who's
not... maybe some of you guys could find yourselves some work
there.]<<<<<

And now I see connections. If I go out too far on a limb here, someone
tell me.

But did Fate have a federal badge?]<<<<<

>>>>>[Convenient and easy, Cathedral, to blame it on The All-Powerful
Feds.

But personally, when a powerful man dies in convenient circumstances, I
say watch his boots. See who's first to step into them.

Looking at Vegas... I'd say it was an inside job. Or someone in the Malone
machine was bought, to _make_ it an inside job.

Et tu, Brute?]<<<<<

than get permission. Fate worked for a private individual, this time.

Call it... an insurance policy, that paid out. A backstop. Or just me being
a bad loser.]<<<<<

Knew it. And I won't hold it against you. A man's gotta do what a man's
gotta do, the old saying goes.

Good thing we got paid before he kicked off.

Yes you know exactly what that means.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Yeah, I thought you'd understand, after a few of the things we've
said to each other.

And I'm not surprised you worked for Malone - isn't that what freelancing
is all about? He was throwing money around, you caught some. Whatever
you did for him, you were careful and didn't get linked to it. I'm sure I
wouldn't like to find out what it was...

But Malone hired you, and Malone's dead. You only go for the hands when
you can't reach the throat.]<<<<<
