Let me try to explain this. Something just didn't feel right about this whole
thing from the start. After Prophet's info, though, I think I understand.
Regarding KHANx' mum, I know nothing. It's most likely as straightforward as
Kendra suggested, with Amazonia wanting the vase and using mum as a patsy to
get it. Now there's some international bickering and she's caught in the
middle. We need to bail her out, and fast.
The FraterNay thing is, I fear, even worse. For starters, I can't contact her
at all. This has never happened before. And now I think I know why.
You see, Mariana Mendoza, aka Bloody Mari, is an old - shall we say -
acquaintance of mine. I might as well let you in on the whole thing. Her former
husband is one Rafael Valentin, currently executive vice president of
information services and technologies at Aztechnology in Seattle. A few years
back, Rafael and I became "friends." Well, not exactly friends. We had a rather
long, involved, sordid tryst which caused the eventual downfall of his marriage
to Mariana. For that, I have gained her undivided hatred. Though Rafael and I
are no longer an item (He called it off when he was promoted to middle
management. Some bunk about not being able to be seen at the company with
"someone like me." In other words, I wasn't good enough any more for the
bastard.) she still has a price on my head.
The reason I'm often able to get information from Aztechnology is that I still
have enough dirt on Rafael to bury him hundreds of metres deep in
investigations, paperwork, and allegations. I'm not above blackmail when it
suits me.
So I believe when Mariana had the opportunity to abduct the most precious
person in the world to me, she did so, knowing that I am acquainted with KHANx
and would most likely be investigating the whereabouts of his mum. (She's as
well connected in the Barrens as I am.)
This could be just paranoia, but I doubt it. I think we've got two distinct
runs here. Lets just hope to the Gods that we don't have to choose between
saving one of the ladies at the expense of the other. I know where my loyalties
would lie in such a circumstance.
As far as Astral goes, I've found nothing. I'm planning a phone call (courtesy
of Kendra) to dear Mr. Valentin asap. Perhaps he will know something useful. I
will report again as soon as I know something of value.]<<<<<
