Strange and stranger...

Orion and Fohdytoo found Mangani's flat. He was not there...

+++++ Begin Download: HelmetCam003.mov A small apartment,
obviously not in the better areas of the town. The door to a bedroom
is open, apart from the bed there's barely enough space to dress.
The main room contains a small untidy cooking section, a table, and
an old trid.

On the table is a half-empty fast-food package, mould covering the
contens. Flies buzz through the room.

Orion and Trixter are visible, searchin the few items in the room for
hints. "You're right, Canis," Trixter says, "there's been nobody here
for at least two days, probably longer." "This means he has probably
vanished right after he contacted us..." Canis' voice from off-camera,
"what do you have there, Fohdytoo?"

"A picture..." the mercenary appears from the right, showing a
framed 2-d image of a man - Paolo Mangani - in front of a large
hoovertruck. The standard container on it's back has a swamp
landscape painted on it - on a second glance you notice this would
serve as camouflage painting. "What is this?" the shaman asks, and
the mercenary's answer comes instantly: "SK's Ruhrmetall ALF
Allzweck-Luftkissen-Fahrzeug, modified as APC. Accepts standard
freigt containers, may be armed with a small..." "Uh," Orion looks up,
"how do you /know/ this?" The mercenary grins: "I was there when
Paolo bought it, it was captured in '52, when we kicked SK's butts
east toward..." "Not now, please," Canis interrupts, "wegot work at
hand. Anybody found other hints? Fohdytoo, do you know where
the truck is?"

Fohdytoo shakes his head: "There was a signal tracker, but it
doesn't receive anything. Sender is probably out of range - or unable
to send."

"Here," Orion exclaims, "where ever Paolo went, he expected to be
back yesterday latest." "How do you know?" Trixter is curious.

"He programmed his trid to record the daily Desert War Report... he
left the day after he called us, and probably wanted to be back before
eighteen hundred yesterday - that was when the Report begins."

"Makes sense. Anything else? No? Then let's move..."
+++++ EndDownload: HelmetCam003.mov

Image enhancers gave us the licence number of the truck, but that
didn't lead us to the truck... Paolo seems to have been a nice boy -
no speeding tickets, no parking fines, nothing within the last six
months.

I don't like the /feeling/ of this... We haven't spoken about it, but I can
see Orion remembers that girl, too... changed behaviour, then
vanished... The cat still lives at Lomer's house. What was the
name? Delling... Victoria Delling. Let's just hope...
