right now, he's setting up some kind of hut, err, lodge, in a small
forest near here.

We all agree Reba and Billy should be secured before any action should
be taken, but last we heared from Bull was he had friends in Seattle to
watch 'em. Especially Team HEIMDAL was supposed to prepare housing and
security. What about them, do you have contact?

And do _not_, I repeat, NOT look forward to bug fighting. Fear it. We
have quite a competent group here, with high magic presence, good
magicians as far as I can tell, and all we could do was running or
losing good men.

Get me right, I still think we have to fight them, they are the worst
threat to humanity, even worse then the corps, but...

FEAR THEM! They are not a joke.

Oh - and give both Reba and Billy warmest greetings from Okami, she
just said. Strange how these spirits act sometimes (and great they
have problems with computer displays :-). ]<<<<<

A lodge, eh? Sounds likesomeserious magic mojo - it's probably about time
we took the fight to these fraggers.

No, I don't have contact with team Heimdall right now. I just want to
make sure the kids are fine before we go to war. It would be a real bummer
to clean them out in Chicago and comeback to find the kids have been snatched.

Hey, no offence intended about fighting the bugs. For the last two
years, that's almost ALL I've done. I'm still here, a lot of them aren't.
They killed my man and I won't rest until I've paid them back. I'm sorry
you lost good men (and women?) to them, it just increases the debt from my
viewpoint.
Fear them? You bet I do! One day they might get me, but not yet. The
secret is to control the fear and focus it into anger against them.
I have ways of dealing with bugs, it's the humans who are helping them
that worry me. When the time comes, I'd be real grateful if some of the
magicians deal with the humans, and leave the bug queen to me and my
elementals (and anyone else who thinks they can cope) - we've done this lots
of times before.

I'm afraid the bugs are not the worst threat to humanity, though. There
are things lurking on other planes that make bugs seem like a minor
annoyance. If they ever get here, they will treat the bugs and us the same
way - slaves or food, whichever they need most at the time.

Okami's greeting will be passed on to the kids. I'm sure Billy will
want to respond, I'll ask Bull if it's OK.

Doctor say he doesn't understand about spirits and computer screens.
Sigh, he has so much to learn about our world.]<<<<<

>>>>>[ Yeah, quite a large lodge...

+++++ Begin Download: Portrait.mov
You see a forest, at about noon. Sunlight falls through bare branches
and forms a complex pattern on the ground. An igloo-shaped building
made from wood is build around an ash tree. Large branches are woven
together by smaler twigs and grasses. There is a circular opening to
the east. The building has a diameter of about eight meters. Colored
grasses form occult patterns on its surface.

Kneeling in front of the lodge is a caucasian man with black hair, his
back turned to the camera. He's chanting something in a strange
language. Next to him lies a helmet, shaped like a wolf's head, and an
Ares Alpha rifle on the ground.

A few meters away a large, black wolf sits on its hind-legs and watches
both the man and the area. It has a strange, nearly sentient glow in
its eyes.

When he stands up and turns to the camera, you see his hair and wild
beard is unkempt. He looks pale and tired, with dark shadows under red
eyes. You feel remembered of a half-starved wolf, especially as he
starts grinning.

He picks up his rifle and helmet and walks into the lodge, vanishing
from sight. The wolf follows him. A few seconds later the chanting
resumes.

As you can see, Canis doesn't spare himself. But he says he can't use
the lodge offensive as long as he doesn't have a link. As he described
it, I think he refers to some kind of trace he needs. Well, that magic
stuff.

As for HEIMDAL, I start worrying. Quickstep - the only one I met
personally - seemed to be quite competent, and their total
disappearance might mean they were trapped by the hive(s) - which would
mean in turn the hive(s) have a stronger presence in Seattle then we
thought. Please talk to Bull about this.

Fighting bugs - let Bull show you these video recordings: Trap.mov,
Sfhouse.mov and both AutoVidCamRec001.mov and ~002.mov. Yup, both men
and women were lost, and are missed. Especially Canis takes these
losses as his personal responsibility.

I am glad, though, that you know what you're talking about, and not
just spouting hot air. Have seen too many loudmouths, and too many
deaths, already. And _I_ don't know about other threats - but if
they're worse then bugs, I _don't_ want to know yet. They're out of my
league, then.

My condolences for your loss. I mean it.

Thanx for passing the greetings, but - who's 'Doctor'? My database does
not contain info on a member of Bull's team with that name? ]<<<<<

The greater threat doesn't have much of a presence here yet, so thebugs are
more immediate anyway.

Doctor isn't exactly a member of Bull's team - he's more apart of me.
If you know magic, you'll know what I mean, if you don't, I doubt I could
explain it to you. That's not meant to be patronising, I truly don't know

are shamans, too, and their totem is Algebra. After I had to check for
a hermetic formula once, I think I know what he means. *smirk*

I also think I understand a bit about "allies", as Okami is one to
Canis. Is Doctor that dogmatic, too? I always assumed spirits were,
well, genderless, but Okami convinced me otherwise - whenever I called
her "it", I got slapped. I ask you: Is this a proper behaviour for a
spirit? She is even more annoying then these watcher-beasts, and very
curious. Very - once she even manifested my room when I was dating a
woman... imagine. I was happier when Canis just called these strange
nature spirits. They are weird, but at least they just followed his
orders... *sigh*

There is one thing I have to ask you, as you seem to have some
knowledge on magical things. Do you know about these strange "Toxic
Shamans"? How does one recognize them, what totem do they have? Is
there something one has to know about them? I can't ask Canis right
now, he's still busy with his hut. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[I was never much good at algebra, but I got my Th. D by researching a
whole bunch of new spells.

No, Doctor isn't a dog (I'm hermetic, remember) <grin>, he just wants to
know everything about everything. I took him to a night club once, and met
a Cat shaman friend of mine. He's had an ally for some time and I foolishly
let Doctor go and dance with the other spirit. We all had to leave rather
soon after that, I'm afraid.

Most spirits are genderless, but allies are a bit different. Also, I
can have my elementals appear in any kind of human form if I really want to,
buit there's usually no point.

Take a tip from me - don't EVER tell Canis that nature spirits follow his
orders. Shamans "ask" the spirits for help, elementals "follow
orders".
And even that isn't always true. When I call up an elemental that's taken
me half a day to get, I be nice to it, in case it comes looking for me some
time later.

Yes, I know about Toxic shamans. They can have many totems, it's how
they perceive the use of magic that's different. They aren't such a
problem in themselves, it's the damned spirits they conjure that all too
often go "free" that's the problem. Don't ask about toxic free spirits -
you truly do not want to know. Or, if you do, it's a long story.]<<<<<
