Ouch.

I know that feeling, although the last time it happened to me it was
someTHING, not someone.

So do I have the boredom to thank for you being on my back?

Sorry, sir. I just...wanted to be careful.

Like I said, I know Void. Quite well, in fact. That's why I don't want to
get him into trouble.

He's definitely one of the good guys. The thing is, he's starting to doubt
that WE'RE the good guys too. Can't say I blame him entirely, although I
don't exactly agree with what he's doing these days.

Anything else?]<<<<<

back on the beat pretty soon after that. Back to real life for a
while...]<<<<<

New eyes? Ouch. Has anyone caught the creeps who did this to you?

By the way, if your interested, I'm taking your advice. I'm now Void,
sniper, not Void, ex-Star sniper.

Hey, my first official lesson in the shadows and I survived it.

>>>>>[Depends on your perspective, Void.

The guy who shot me, personally? Nope. Nobody caught him or her and I
doubt anyone will. Very competent assassin, likes ruth-poly sneaksuits,
damn near killed me... that's all I got.

Thing is, talent like that tends to freelance and work for the highest
bidder. And you don't go for the gun - you go for the shooter.

Seamus Malone tried to kill me, _did_ kill my husband, killed more than
half-a-dozen FBI agents and about two hundred citizens. And Seamus
Padraig Malone is now dead. Good enough for me. Ours not to reason
why...

You interested in some consultancy work? Discreet, low profile, pays
>>small but useful sum<<. Basically, you hear something interesting, you
pass it on. I ask you questions, you tell me what you know, or you be
honest that you don't want to drop friends in drek or endanger yourself.

Andy used to trawl the streets for me, but he's dead.

<pause>

It helped me do my job. And some of his contacts won't talk to cops,
others won't talk to anyone who isn't Andy, and I could use the help.]<<<<<

>>>>>[Sorry 'bout that. Got out of the vat, they hosed off the nanite
sludge, and I was still towelling when they handed me the paperwork that
had stacked up in my absence.

Some things never change, huh?

Short version's this. You hear about any bad shit going down, you tell me,
you get paid for your trouble. Your typical shadowrun doesn't qualify, most
runners have enough brain cells to not hose down civilians or blow up UCAS
turf, but sometimes you get wackos who decide to kill every meta they
can find or some other racist, religious, psycho-ward crap. Turning gung-
ho psychos over is worth some noticeable money.

The Star's a corporation, but some of us remember who pays our wages.

Besides that standard snitch package... a good sniper who can put gel
rounds where they'll do some good is an asset. One who isn't working
inside the Star's paperwork can be even more useful, sometimes.

Stay in touch. Can't guarantee a _lot_ of work, but what I can pass your
way should be worth your while.]<<<<<

Paperwork? Hey, why do you think I left in the first place?

+++++[ Chuckle. ]

Okay, LT, you've got yourself a deal. Don't think it's about the money,
though. Psychos like that...hell, I'd pay YOU to get a crack at them.

+++++[ Pause. ]

Don't tell anyone I said that, though. Bad for the image.

Anyway, I'll be 'round. You need me, just drop me a message. I'm starting to
think it might be a pleasure doing business with you.

Weird. I've gotta leave the force before I finally find another honest cop I
can work with. What a world. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[Ahh, yes. I do remember you Wyrm. I thought you were a rather smart
lad
then, promised to have real potential. Actually, I tried to have you tested
and recruited. You might remember, you were prowling in some data construct
when all of a sudden a Black IC construct showed up. All your sources told you
there wasn't supposed to be one there. In fact, it didn't look like it fit in
with the rest of the scenery. That was my test. You lived. I was pleased. But
then I sent you a hidden offer, and you turned me down -- how very unfortunate
for me -- but more unfortunate for you I'd say. I'm sure you know what I mean.

As for any of you contemplating going against me. Know this, I do not hold a
grudge. What you have done so far is a bygone. Forgiven and forgotten. But
do not make the mistake of believing I will not strike back at those who
disrupt my plans.

Think of this: Do you have something that you really love ? Yes, of course,
you do. All of us do. Think about that beloved thing long and hard. Then make
the correct choice - do not interfere.]<<<<<
