>>>>>[Here's some footage of the latest SI newsconference about those
guns. Uncut and from the source... Well, a little cut... Okay, I
snipped everything except for the interesting bits... My o-drive isn't
THAT big...

"...According to our preliminary investigation of the incident at
the Tom Shane and Co. Jewelry, it appears that a weapon produced by
Sheppard Intrepid was used by a disgruntled employee in a botched
revenge slaying.

The gun's timer had been set to activate the gun on full automatic
mode at exactly 4:35pm. For those who don't already know, full
automatic mode will cause the gun to fire on any unauthorized person
present in the weapon's area of protection. According to LoneStar's
investigation, the only person that held the weapon's authorization
and activation codes was Robert Deal, the store's janitor.

In the weeks approaching the murders, Deal had been informed that
his position at Tom Shane Jewelry would be terminated due to cost
cutting measures. Deal then somehow acquired five belts of rounds from
an unknown source, and replaced the gel rounds normally kept in the
gun. Deal himself was caught in the firing, and was himself gravely
injured, and is currently comatose in hospital..."

They didn't say much about the thing at Warrior, just that their
investigation was ongoing. Oh yeah, they said this too:

"... Due to the public's concerns, Sheppard Intrepid is now making
weapon's control and usage courses mandatory for all client's security
staff. In addition to this, we are offering free refresher courses to
owners of any of our weapons. To allay fears of tampering, we are also
dispatching maintence teams to every site that has an SI device
currently installed to check for any unauthorized activity..."

And speaking 'off the record' the SI guy had this to say:

"...We at SI pray for the day when our products are no longer needed
in our world. Until then, we try to make our weapons safer and less
dangerous. The Vigilent autocannon is one of the best tested and
safest devices on the market today. It is a pity that one deranged
employee of one of our clients had to ruin that reputation. And it is
a tragedy that he had to take so many lives doing it. As a good
corporate citizen, Sheppard Intrepid is offering an undisclosed amount
of compensation to the families. Even though we know that this can't
come close to replacing the lost loved ones, we hope that it can at
least make the futures of those they left behind a little easier..."
