+++++ begin press bulletin

Shortly after the Lone Star press conference this afternoon Serenity
Security announced it will be greatly stepping up it's presence in
the Tarislar section of the city in response to the increased tensions
in the area.

"We simply cannot allow our customers to be endangered by the lack of
response that Lone Star has shown to date," said Serenity spokesman
Zachary Turner.

Serenity is one of the few firms that has been willing to offer it's
services in Tarislar, and was at one time the security firm for the
Easy Eight which was recently destroyed.

+++++ end press bulletin

Reliable sources that I have in Tarislar tell me that there are quite a
few Serenity patrols in the area, most of which are armed to the teeth and
riding around in MobMasters. Serenity is one of the few companies that
could probably get away with this, since they have a very high percentage
of magically active and/or metahumans working for them, and have a pretty
good rep on the street. ]<<<<<

>>>>>[Yeah, Newshound. Sort of a surprise - Serenity were kind of low
profile for a while.

What _really_ doesn't surprise me is that Serenity are apparently staging
out of Yeager Field - the Rebels' base? - and that they seem to have
_way_ too many drones all of a sudden.

And, yeah, Serenity are about the only guys who _could_ patrol Tarislar
safely right now. The Rebels, maybe, they're local now, but they don't
have a security licence.

Mind you... I hear that Puyallup's political class are already leaning on the
Metroplex to get Serenity out of there. The Mob has the money, the Mob
wants to be left in peace, and in the Barrens the Mob gets what it
wants.]<<<<<

police out by making sure nothing ever happened to draw police attention.
It doesn't look like they're doing that in Tarislar, I'm guessing one of
two things, either the Mob is trying to quite things down and failing (in
which case they may well welcome Serenity's presence) or they're so
wrapped up in internal affairs that they won't care about
Serenity, unless they start hitting Mob operations.]<<<<<

NEW LAWS DEMANDED TO STEM CRISIS

New measures to limit the ability of rogue 'security consultants' to operate
unfettered were hastily being drafted, as heavily-armed paramilitaries
flooded onto the Tarislar streets. Lone Star sources stated that the
deployment of dozens of machine-gun-toting Serenity Security 'guards' to
the troubled region had occured without their knowledge or permission,
and had caused a major operation against organised crime in the area to
be aborted.

"Whoever Serenity are protecting, it isn't the residents." a Lone Star
spokesman warned. "This intervention seriously interferes with our ability
to protect the citizens of Tarislar."

Alderman Elizabeth Karnell proposed a new ordinance that would require
all private security contractors to secure prior permission from the police
for all such deployments. "We cannot allow every pack of jumped-up
cowboys with a 'security licence' and a collection of automatic weapons to
disrupt law enforcement in this way."

My guess is, Some Nameless Vegas Mobster figures that nobody who
matters really gives a damn about Tarislar.

He's probably right, too. If they mattered in Puyallup the Mob already
bought them.]<<<<<
