>>>>>[ As Midnight and Geiger both wagered on, I sure did have an eye
on the room. It wasn't live, but then again, I'm not sure I would
have understood it all if I would have been doing both my duty and my
duty, if you know what I mean.

+++++ begin interrogation transmission
The room itself smells is like a warm, moist pit. Almost like
someone's stomach. The floor is squishy and feels like a lining of
some sort. There are electronical consoles cleverly hidden from the
eyes of the prisoners. Geiger is deep within casting a complex spell.
Midnight puts on an additional headset and puts a sensor node on the
side of his lower jaw. You notice that Geiger and Whirlwind are
already wearing them. Midnight quietly hands Easy and Griffyn a
headset each. It doesn't take Easy and Griffyn long to get them on.

*Midnight* Whirlwind, sweep room again.

Whirlwind moves around carefully avoiding Geiger and the prisoners.
He uses a strange device that looks sort of like a metal detector. It
takes him a decent amount of time, during which he picked up three
objects and throws them into a box. Whirlwind checks a panel and
nods.

*Whirlwind* I can't find it, but I know that Croaker planted a camera
in here to get later.
*Midnight* Damn. Probably Geiger helped him hide it.

Geiger finally finishes casting the spell. He scowls at Midnight.

*Geiger* I heard that. Show time in five.
*Midnight* Close your eyes unless you got flare comps.
*Whirlwind* three .... two.... one

At zero there is a flash of light. You hear Midnight proclaim loudly,
"Back ye foul demon! I forbid you to have these souls!"

You hear and feel a scratching voice. It sounds like a steel rake
through dry leaves [in other words a lot like Scourge's matrix icon
voice]. The voice cries out, "NO! I won't let you have them!"

Midnight shouts back, "Behold my power, demon! These souls are in my
protection for now! If they fail to please me and my assistants, then
they shall be yours."

The scratchy voice says menacingly, "Very well, angel. You can have
them for now. But I won't let you have them for long."

*Geiger* They believe the wires attached to them are my tentacles
that have grown out and covered them. They have completely lost their
sense of time here. They should be at your mercy.
*Midnight* Set?
*Whirlwind* Start with one on the left.

Midnight walks up to the woman driver. She has been striped and
completely shaved. Wires are attached all over her upper body and
head. Whirlwind sits down behind a console and quickly points out
discrete places for the others to sit and observe.

Midnight calmly walks up to the woman and says, "My dear, it pains me
to see how far you have fallen. I fear I have strayed to long and let
the demon have his way with you. I apologize my child."

The woman says tentatively, "G-g-god?"

Midnight kindly says, "My friends call me Christopher."

"S-sir, can you please free me from these tentacles?!?"

"I'm afraid I cannot at this time. I can make you more comfortable,
though." He raises his hand and places it on her head. Timed
perfectly, Whirlwind manipulates his console and can see some of
tension decrease. "What job did you perform for Mr. Mick?"

"I was his driver."

*Whirlwind* True.

"Anything else?"

"No."

*Whirlwind* False.

Midnight makes a motion. She gasps in pain immediately after.
Whirlwind smirks behind his console.

*Whirlwind* You move fast for a human, but not fast enough.

Midnight says, "Why do you not tell me the truth? Things will go much
easier if you tell me the truth. I want to help you, but first you
must help yourself by telling the truth. What other duties did you
perform for Mr. Mick?"

She quietly (as if embarrassed by it) says, "I was one of his
joytoys."

"Did you enjoy it?"

"Yes -- no. Sometimes. Mostly not. He isn't that good in bed."

*Geiger* I forgot to mention that the other prisoners are continuing
on a little program that Keys whipped up. They don't have any clue
what is being said.

Midnight nods and says, "I see. Do you remember a young kid named
Sprinkler? He looked something like --" He gestures and Geiger casts
a spell that looks amazingly like Sprinkler.

"Vaguely. I believe he had a business meeting with Finny. I learned
a long time ago not to pry so I didn't eavesdrop."

*Whirlwind* True. Dig a little deeper. Ask questions about how she
saw him act.

"How did Sprinkler act?"

"Shouldn't you know?" Midnight makes an angry gesture and she gasps
in pain.

"I like stories. I want to hear - to enjoy your beautiful voice,
child. Please don't make me angry, child. I hate hurting you." He
kisses her lightly on the cheek and steps back. "How did Sprinkler
act before and after the meeting?"

She pauses for a long time. She is about to say something and then
screams. "Make it stop!" She sobs.

Midnight waves a hand and there is a brief flash, and a strangled cry.
"Not yet, demon. She isn't yours." Softer he says soothingly, "The
demon challenges my power. I fear his hold over you may be too
strong. Still, as long as I can - as long as you are truthful then I
will find a way to keep him at bay."

*Whirlwind* Nicely done, guys.
*Geiger* I was getting bored and she was getting ready to lie again.

"He was a frightened kid. He seemed haunted and afraid. He went in,
and made a deal from what I gathered. Then he left. Not nearly as
afraid, but still haunted by something."

*Whirlwind* True.
*Midnight* Fishy, but she doesn't have the answer. Anything else?
*Whirlwind* Give her something to think about.

"Child, you have a beautiful voice. You really should use it more. I
must temporarily deal with other events that are passing me by. Think
about what you would differently, if you start over again from the day
before you decided to work for Finny Mick."

*Geiger* Not exactly what I would have chosen as a godlike response,
but I guess it works.
*Midnight* It suffices.
*Whirlwind* She's back in the program.
