>>>>>[ Well, hopefully that is the last interruption for a while. (If
only I would be so lucky.)

+++++ continue interrogation transmission

Midnight sits down and puts his head in his hands. Something is
obviously tearing him up. A minute later he snaps his head up. He
looks tired and defeated.

Midnight after a little soul searching says, "God help me. We have to
kill them. We don't even have enough time to find all the details of
what else Mr. Finny did on Sprinkler's behalf. I will leave the
killing to those who do that sort of thing a little more willingly
than I do."

Whirlwind says, "No. You owe me something. You owe it to Griffyn
although he won't know why at this point in time. You are going to
pull the trigger for their deaths."

Griffyn interjects, "Wait a second, Whirlwind. What the hell are you
talking about?"

Midnight pauses as if he is trying to make some decision. He smiles
coldly at Easy and says, "You know what, Whirlwind? I don't owe you
or Griffyn anything. If there was any justice left in this world,
you, Doomsday, and myself should be put on trial for what we have let
get past us. You used Pestilence to get here, and based on what
Pestilence is becoming, I would not say that was wise. I used
Archangel and I used the Wanderer. Mostly because I thought Archangel
was himself and not degrading into Death. As it turns out, I was wise
to ally Death and his pet, the Wanderer. It prevented my death, it
prevented the enemy from gaining Blitzkrieg, and it opened up a lot
more questions, but that wasn't any surprise. I was the leader and I
had to make the hard decisions. I accepted the responsibility because
I knew how talented Death and his pet were. I knew what they could
buy me. It was worth more than revenge is worth to me since revenge
wouldn't change anything. The wraith who formed Death. The wraith
lured the Wanderer -- War -- into starting the mess that turned into
the massacre both in Seattle and then in Berlin. Killing one person
doesn't bring back the lives. Killing one person buys us nothing
since then we would have to fight Death and frankly, I don't have the
confidence to beat him yet."

Midnight continues, "Ultimately as the leader, I have to make the hard
choices. No one else is going to do it, because it isn't their fight.
These people have to die, because their subconscious minds are going
to retain too much to risk keeping them alive. Since I judge them,
then I guess it is my duty to execute them. However, I'm not doing it
because I owe you, Whirlwind, or you, Griffyn. I'm doing it because it
has to be done or someone can backtrack us."

Griff blinks a couple of times and looks like he is about to ask more
questions, but sees the look on Midnight's face and seems to
reconsider.

Midnight also looks like he is about to say something more but
doesn't. Instead, he pulls out a pistol and loads a bullet into the
chamber. He says a brief prayer (it sounded like Latin) and then
kills the bodyguard with a silenced shot into the back of the guard's
head. He then says a different Latin prayer and executes the fixer.

Lastly, he moves in front of the woman. He closes his eyes and softly
sings a beautiful Latin prayer. As soon as the prayer finishes, he
looks at the woman strapped up to vitals, and walks up to the
computer. He turns off the sleeping program. He simulates her to an
orgasm, and then a second - much more intense one. Midnight then puts
her back to sleep. In a steady pace he walks up to her. He puts the
gun in her mouth. He quietly says another prayer and then fires.
Killing her, instantly.

After looking at the blood for a while, he looks at Whirlwind. "Blood
won't heal wounds, Whirlwind, and you and I both know that."

He takes off the secondary headset and crisply marches out of the room
splattered with blood. You just barely hear Whirlwind say, "I know,
sir. And I also know, that you are paying the price more than anyone
else here, sir." Louder he says, "Geiger, could you send in Doc to
help me clean this room up?"

Geiger says quietly, "Yeah, Whirlwind. The rest of you take off the
secondary headphones and give them to Whirlwind."

Whirlwind starts cleaning up the room. Geiger takes off his secondary
headset and walks out. He immediately says into his main headset,
"Status report, people. Doc, you are needed inside the interrogation
room." As soon as Griffyn, Easy, and Quinn leave the room, he shuts
the door.
