Your right, your opinon on more cops for the barrarens and Redmond
_should_ mean damn all. Unfortunetly, whenever the govener or the Star
does an opinon poll to see how people feel about more cops for the slums,
they do it in Downtown, Bellviue, Everett and what not.

Actually, a few of the folks around here _do_ actually care (Easy,

the runners in Seattle couldn't change things, but what the hey).]<<<<<

Compare these two stories. Which will spark most outrage?

GUN BATTLE RAGES IN FORT LEWIS
A notorious red-light district in the garrison town of Fort Lewis was
shaken by a late-night firefight that left at least three dead and fifteen
injured, according to Lone Star and military police sources.

The incident began at 0015, when a white van pulled up outside the
Laughing Soldier bar, and the occupants opened fire with automatic
weapons. Staff and patrons of the bar responded and a gun battle
followed, as a second vehicle arrived to catch the bar's security staff in a
crossfire. After several brutal minutes, the attackers fled in their vehicles.

Two military personnel were injured in the crossfire, but MPs said both
would be questioned as soon as possible to discover why they had violated
their midnight curfew.

Lone Star were also not forthcoming on reports that the bar staff had
been armed with illegal automatic weapons, citing "continuing
investigations". They appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The startling violence of this action is seen by some as overspill from
conflicts in the nearby Puyallup Barrens, where several orgsnised crime
factions have been bloodily jockeying for position. Fort Lewis Residents'
Association president Amelia Leitt demanded action be taken. "We live
just a few miles from some of the worst criminal scum in North America."
she said. "Yet our so-called police officers concentrate on harassing
businessmen and off-duty soldiers. If Lone Star can't keep the Barrens out
of our town, perhaps it's time to find someone who can."
+++++end news article 1

Three dead, a dozen hurt, most of the "injured" not serious. Compare
that to this little item -

EXPLOSION DESTROYS GARAGE
A vehicle repair facility in Hell's Kitchen, Puyallup was destroyed in an
unexplained explosion late last night. Lone Star said that the detonation
appeared to be caused by improperly stored gas cylinders.
+++++end news article 2

At least thirty dead at the scene, according to my source. But hey, it's
Puyallup, so who gives a damn? Cops never even went near the place.
