>>>>>[All right, Scythe, you asked for a summary of the "Project
Purge" mess,
and I'm here to tell you what I know. Here goes...

It all started when our team (called Chance & Co) was hired by Durandal to
make a run into Ares to destroy the cell sample with his personnel record. The
run started out all right, but then Talky the toaster got his Messiah complex
and sent his "TOAST IS GOOD" message screaming across the net. It set off all
sorts of alarms in the Ares complex, and in the resulting confusion, Widow and
Laurissa were separated from the rest of us.

We got out in one piece, and began our search for Wid and Lauri. Not long
after, we came across them, driving a sanitation truck and being chased by a
bunch of ganger types... in the truck with them was a young Quebecoise named
Danielle. She had been captured by a group who were still holding her brother
Robert captive in a warehouse. Once our rigger Rox got into the chase, things
didn't last much longer.

We went in to rescue Robert a couple days later, with the aid of Vertical,
Durandal, and Semetex. It turned out that this group was not a normal gang, or
even a standard Humanis group... they were a semi-trained fighting force with
some strong support and a powerful shaman (believed at this point to be
toxic). Widow went down by a spell, and after a big firefight, we rescued
Robert and got out of there. Semetex identified one of our opponents as Boris,
a mercenary for sale to the highest bidder. He has since been pursuing him, as
Boris has tried to pick our team off. His attempts have been thwarted, but he
has escaped and is still currently at large.

In the Warehouse, Lauri and Widow picked up some data on something called
"Project Purge," as well as a small case that contained a serum of some kind.
The data talked about tests on subjects, and we sent the serum to PhD, a
contact of ours who knows medical stuff. The case and serum gave off a bad
aura, and so I was afraid of what it meant.

Then, Widow disappeared. It was believed originally that she was in a fit of
jealousy because of the way she and Chance were treating each other. Her
beliefs were unfounded, but she wouldn't be persuaded to change her mind. She
also sent some very painful messages to Lauri, Chance, and anyone who tried to
help. Only recently have we learned that she is not completely in control of
her own mind. Currently, Chance and Coyote are looking for her.

When the results returned from PhD, we learned something very bad... the serum
was a genetically/magically engineered strain of the VITAS plague that would,
somehow, only affect Metahumans. Further data analysis revealed this group was
called the "Hand of Nature," and was planning to eliminate the Metahumans,
which they felt were "Mistakes of Magic and a corruption of Nature." We are
currently doing a public search of the databases trying to find a photo match
between the leader of the HON, "John Smith," and anybody in real life. And
just recently, Vertical seems to have made a connection with something that he
hasn't revealed yet. At the moment we are waiting, while PhD puts together a
team to make a counter-agent for this virus, and Chance retrieves Widow from
wherever she is. We just hope that we don't find out what's going on before
it's too late.

And that is what has happened so far. Hope this clears some things up for
people.]<<<<<
