>>>>>[I’ve been to see Vassilly again, and told him that I’ve got the info,
but that there are probably other copies. (This means you’re dead, Johnny. My
condolences). Before he died, "Johnny" told me everything he knew. This included
the fact that he was hired to sell the info, whereas before I had assumed that he had
initiated the theft. Unfortunately, Johnny didn’t know the name of his employer. This, I
told Vassilly, sows some doubt about who it actually was, since whoever started the whole
thing certainly wouldn’t have done so until they knew they were covered.

I also told Vassilly that Johnny had found a buyer, and set up a meet
with said buyer for the evil mastermind who’s behind it all. And that I
knew where and when that meet would be, and that I’d be there to stop it
occuring, for a price. He refused, preferring to have his own security
team break it up, and offered to buy the location and time instead. I
agreed, since I couldn’t think of any reason why I’d prefer to do it
myself. So I told him that the meet is at a small cafe at >>address<<,
1200 on 04-02. Now, what the hell do we do next?]<<<<<

>>>>>[Long, and me playing Allaeric.

I didn’t see you anywhere, did you miss out on it? If so, here’s a brief
run-down of what happened. Long arrived first, and when I got there he
got up to come and talk to me, then a Knight Errant team closed the
trap. Looks like they’d bought the café for the day, unless it’s
Starbucks SOP to carry SMGs when on duty. No-one even looked twice at
Long, they were only interested in "Allaeric". Of course, I got away,
otherwise I wouldn’t be telling you this now. I don’t think they
expected Allaeric - he’s the only mage Hammersmith have, and if they’d
thought it was him, they’d have been better prepared for me. Of course,
they still wouldn’t have expected my drones. At the end of the day,
there were five KE cops down, one of them dead (I was using gel rounds,
but sometimes you get lucky). You might as well go see Vassilly - and
I've no idea how you're going to explain Long's presence there.]<<<<<

Glad that you made it out of there. Now that I'm supposedly 'dead' you still
want me to tag along Long (pardon the pun) and find out what happened?
What's next? I just hope that confrontation does not attract any more heat.
Although it'd be nice to see The Star vs. Knight Errant feuding over
jurisdiction.]<<<<<

>>>>>[I’ve been to see Vassilly again.

+++++Begin sound file

Vassilly: So, Mr Penrhyn, we meet again.

Ronin: Yeah. How’d it go?

V: I presume you mean the meeting between my mole and the buyer?

R: No, I mean whether you persuaded your wife to wear that chicken
costume.

V: Yes, eventually. She still won’t cluck at the appropriate moment
though.

R: Which is when?

V: How about we get serious again?

R: Righto… how’d the meet go down?

V: It was very odd, Mr Penrhyn. Odd to the point that I have no clear
idea what’s going on.

R: Care to elaborate?

V: A badly voice-masked person called in sick for one of my employees,
let’s call him Bob. Bob didn’t turn up to work – at the time we thought
nothing of it, we didn’t check the voice straight away. But someone
looking very much like Bob turned up to this meet of yours, as did Mr
Long. We closed the trap, but "Bob" had a few surprises up his sleeve –
the KE team were put down with gel rounds and flare grenades, one
fatality, but obviously that wasn’t the intention. Bob shouldn’t have
been able to arrange this sort of thing, which is why we went back to
the recording of his call and ran over it with a scanning system… and
found out it was a fake. So we are forced to presume that "Bob" was the
buyer, and Long was trying to sell the info. He didn’t have it on him,
which is odd, but it doesn’t prove anything. However, Mr Long claims
that a mysterious and helpful stranger told him that if he turned up to
this meet, he would meet the man who framed him. A mysterious and
helpful stranger, Mr Penrhyn. Ring any bells?

R: Not really.

V: It occurs to me, Mr Penrhyn, that you are a mysterious and helpful
stranger. Have you met Mr Long? He doesn’t recognise your photo, but
obviously you can change your features at will.

R: Huh? You think I…

V: I don’t much care anymore. It looks like you’ve ripped me off, Mr
Penrhyn. I don’t know how you got that file, nor do I care. No doubt
you’ve set something up to distribute it if you die, so there’s no point
me killing you, though I am tempted. But you’ll be getting nothing more
out of Hammersmith, and I strongly advise you not to try.

R: It looks like you’ve made up your mind, so I won’t bother arguing
about it.

V: Wise decision.

R: And having been paid for the file’s recovery, I have no intention of
distributing it, though I doubt you’ll believe that either. Good luck
finding the real mole.

V: These two gentlemen will escort you out. Resistance is futile, Mr
Penrhyn.

+++++End sound file

Obviously he doesn’t trust me any more, my first clue being the way he
had his goons throw me out. Stick a fork in us, I think we’re done.
Might as well turn Allaeric loose.]<<<<<
