This is Jessica Farbane, aboard the German ship, SMS _Friedrich der Grosse_.
The _Intrepid_, former headquarters of Dragon's Den International, is still
engaged in piracy in the South Pacific. Since its being wrested from the
control of Tirandor, the rogue corporate forces presently in control of the
ship have been wreaking havoc upon the Southern Pacific shipping lanes, in
hit-and-fade attacks. The only indication of its intentions is that the
pattern of attacks shows it to be moving north, probably towards the Panama
Canal, which obviously has canal authorities concerned.

The individuals in charge of the craft have successfully crushed several
attempts by the Pacific island governments to stop the carrier with their sea
patrol forces, although adequate to their usual tasks, are largely inferior
to the firepower the _Intrepid_ and its air cover can generate.

The acts have been declared piracy under the Law of the Sea, and various
government have declared their intentions to bring the carrier's subversive
behavior to a halt. The only nation with a sizable force in the area is the
German Empire, whose Fifth High Seas Fleet recently participated in removing the
coup government from Omega Island. I had the opportunity to have a recent
interview with Admiral Frederick von Zollikofer, commander of the fleet to find
out his intentions:

---

Farbane: Why is the German Empire taking such an interest in this incident?

Zollikofer: The rogues presently commanding CV11, to use its original call
number of the United States Navy, are guilty of wanton acts of piracy. Their
behavior threatens the security and sanctity of the shipping lanes, which runs
counter to the interests of all nations engaging in trade. It is the intention
of the Imperium to put a stop to that. Naturally, the recent possibility of a
threat to the Panama Canal has quickened our resolve.

Farbane: Given the _Intrepid's_ reputation for eluding others, how do you
intend to locate it?

Zollikofer: We are aware of this rather novel device originally developed by,
we assume, DDI; however, the device is demonstratably not fool-proof. There
are several possibilities for detection:

1) Satellite photographs with Infrared sensors should be able to locate the
heat emissions of the _Intrepid's_ fission reactor.

2) If the _Intrepid_ is traveling in excess of approximately 15 knots, she
will be giving off a considerable sound signature, which may be tracked. Also,
the pattern and rapidity of its last few raids indicates it must be traveling
at its top speed, facilitating such a search.

3) It is certain that the cloaking device, if you will, is at least partially
magical in its nature. A metaphysical energy field of that magnitude would be
easy to locate via Astral reconnaissance. As is in the case of locating a
Magician with an invisibility spell activated, the most expedient method to
ascertain his position is with Astral perception.

Farbane: Herr Admiral, is it your intention to sink the _Intrepid_?

Zollikofer: Absolutely not. Despite actions of those presently in command,
the _Intrepid_ is private property. Dragon's Den International has made it
abundantly clear it wishes for the carrier's return, and we have every
intention of complying. Besides, given the aircraft carrier's resilience, we
would almost have to specifically pursue the goal of sinking it. We only
desire its surrender.

---

As of the moment, the fleet has successfully maneuvered every craft through the
Panama Canal, and now steams into Pacific waters, where it is certain the
_Intrepid_ shall be found. The last reports on its position placed it on a
heading towards the Panama Canal, and if they are accurate, it is likely the
two groups shall encounter one another fairly soon.

the _Friedrich der Grosse_, in the East Pacific.
