We need someone found. Shouldn't be too hard except the official records
are post-Crash alphabet soup and we're short on deckers, as usual.

The person in question is Vice-Admiral Louis George Bass, UCAS Navy
(retired).

+++++include file: available_data.txt

Left the Navy in 2026, hopefully is still alive. Any information you can
find gratefully recieved. Fee is >>encrypted<< unless you run into
trouble.]<<<<<

Basically, our boy runs a small hotel in Cape Charles one the mid-atlantic
coast of the UCAS. There are no records of his military service, no pension
or retirement money coming from the gummint. Nothing. Putting that aside,
it looks as if he was a vice-admiral at the time of his retirement when he
was .. wait .. this can't be right .. forty-four years old?! This screams of
a cover-up of some kind, but I haven't been able to find any hints digging
through his info.

He is active in his local sailing club, seems to be in fair health, and makes
a pretty nice income off of his hotel. Nothing stellar, but not too shabby,
either. I scanned his financial records, looking for maybe some pay-off
money for whatever the cover-up is, but didn't find anything. Nothing terribly
eye-catching in his financials. He seems pretty clean.

On another note, I don't suppose SIGA is hiring at the moment, are they?

Boss, Flux just asked if we're hiring.

His rep's good and he's done sterling work for me. Plus he owes me,
fairly big-time - I patched him and got him to AJ for repairs after
someone worked him over badly. I think we can trust him. Offer?]<<<<<

Warn him how intrusive the entry procedure might be. If he accepts, set
up an interview and I'll talk to him. If he passes that, I believe he'll
be a most valuable addition to the team.]<<<<<

And, are we hiring?

Deckers like you?

<stunned silence>

YES!!!!!!

You want in, provided you're sincere and reasonably clean (not warrant-
free, just clean by Coppinger's standards), you're welcome. You've got a
few hoops to jump through, surprise surprise, but get past those
(basically, tell the truth no matter what) and you're in. Lie, and you
can forget it. David seems to have a nose for untruth and reacts badly
to it, and on top of that we work on rigorous (to put it very gently)
Internal Affairs routines.

As long as you can cope with that - it's not as bad as it might at first
appear unless you're dirty - then we really, _really_ need more good
deckers. Jake is good, but not in your league. Fail, and I can guarantee
your hide if not your pride will emerge intact.

And yes, you do get access to milspec software. There have to be _some_
bennies to make up for the random mindprobes and full disclosure. <bseg>
Just do _not_ leak it _anywhere_.

Basically, we don't have much to offer except hard work, general
distrust, shitty hours, lousy pay, NSA and Chrome Berets offering
unwanted tips on upgrading your deck and software, and the dubious
satisfaction of trying to do good work in a bad world.

If you're still interested, we'd _love_ to have you on board.]<<<<<
