gladdens the heart to that you still live.
To answer your question: maybe. Those that theorize that the gaiasphere is
a function of biomass say that given a sufficient amount of living
creatures, a gaiasphere affect would occur. These scientists argue over
how much biomass is needed for such an event to occur. Most argue, based
on Zurich Orbital, that it would take a fairly significant amount of life
and that it would almost certainly require more bio-diversity than just
(meta)humans.
There are those that would contend that the gaiasphere is more an integral
function of our planet than of biomass - which implies that magic should
work on other planets and perhaps our moon - but not in the open space
between planets, i.e. space. Sort of like stating that the theorized
gaiasphere is something like gravity, a natural occurrence "caused" by our
planet.
There are other, stranger, theories that abound also, including a bizarre
theory I just ran across on MagicNet that states that we are moving through
a "cloud" of astral energy right now, and that these clouds exist naturally
in the galaxy and that these clouds are partially responsible for the
so-called missing matter of creation. A well thought out theory, but no
supporting evidence.
Of course, if you are willing to believe the claims of those that say they
have astrally walked upon the moon, the whole question is moot.]<<<<<
