>>>>>[Well, this message is really for DA, but I couldn't remember if
someone had said he wouldn't be getting his messages through the DA account
anymore, so I sent this to you as well, Gates...

Anyways, we're moving now, DA... But things happened a little to late...

We were seriously compromised, dude... Things went bad, and they went bad
fast... And you were right about us having a bug in our midst..

You know that Amerind chick we came out with, Stands with a Fist? Well,
she's a Mantis... And has been for a cuple of years... She had a damned
good aura mask on her, though, as she managed to hide herself from Johnny,
Tailspin, and Daytripper, as well as that group of wizardly types that we
had been holed up with inside...

Frag... that's two of my crew taht the bugs got...

As for your crew... i don't know if any of them made it out... Things have
been so chaotic since we ran, and I do mean ran, that I haven't even been
able to find out who all we have with us... We haven't stopped moving,
since we ran, and I haven't been able to contact any of the other vehicles,
but i think my comm gear is on the fritz... I'm sending you this by
Sat-Uplink, so hopefully it gets through with no interference.

Stands is still alive, though leaving her in that condition wouldn't have
been my choice. She tried to take my kid, Reba, to groom as a new bug, I
think a queen... Anyways, I confronted her, and we got jumped by the Chess
men, and she un-manifested, or whatever teh term for that is,and flew away
with a couple wasps on her trail... Fortunately, Reba is safe, just scared,
but hell, the rest of us are scared too...

We should have left the damnedcity a couple weeks ago, but everyone wanted
to stay until we got everyone together, and then the wizzies decided they
needed to do a ritual, and that took them a few days to work out, and damnit
if only they'd have stopped arguing about how to do it and just did it, we'd
have been out of tere days ago...

Well, no point com[plaining about it now...

Anyways, i'm glad you're ok... and good luck with things. If any of your
crew are still in one piece, what should I do with them? Yoou want them to
head back to ya?

Well, I'm gone... I gotta see about patching Tailspin up again...]<<<<<

Sorry, but I have to tell you Lucy died in defending Bull and his Kids - and
me, too, it seems. She had something planned with Orion to hinder me to help
your people out - they simply knocked me out.

From what I saw we must have hit some raw nerve with someone - they send a
full strike team, including a tank, to take us out. I don't know who made it
out so far, but that traitor Orion said he saw how Lucy and Jack died. Don't
know about the rest.

My apologies for my failure to protect your people. I am indebted to you with
my life and am willing to pay the price whenever neccessary.

Have had no contact to the other teams so far, by now I just know about Orion,
Minx, and Hamish. I think at least a few others did make it, but don't know.

The traitor says he set up some kind of red herring which would explain why
we were barly hunted, but for all I know he might even told 'em where we go.

Clint, I am rambling now, I know, but please inform me if your team has... had
relatives I may help, financial or otherwise. I am so sorry. ]<<<<<

I feel really sorry for your people. I liked them, they were good fellows to

you all tell me - Oh they are all alive by the way, seems only my people
bought the big dark. - SWAF was a Mantis, if she was informing the Chess
Men about IF-1, why is it no Mantis are seen with them? The death of
those people was for nothing, I believe there is still an informant in
the team.

It is not your personal failure Canis, it is the failure of several
people, so no price is expected from you, but I would appreciate it if
you would assist later, after delivering Bull, to make these
sonsabitches pay for what they have done, and no financial recompense is
necessary. During our work in various parts of the world, I always
invest some of the profit from our ops. The relatives and family of the
dead will be well cared for.

Why are you calling Orion a traitor? Whatever he did to you was through
his love of you as a brother, wake up you dozey kraut, he'd never do
anything to deliberately hurt you, quite the opposite in fact. Now get
your act together. You and Inferno are going to have to work together.
You'll need to set traps for the enemy, and lead them into it, and
destroy them. It's time for some payback, but whatever you do, first
and foremost is to get Bulls family to the Underground in Seattle, and
Bull to Network 13. There is a lady there, by the name of Amanda
Taylor, she will do whatever is necessary to get Bull's information
televised, once she knows what he got, she'll figure out a way to deal
with it. Trust her, she is beyond doubt.

deckers, you can't trust 'em.

So yet more people dead. There is a heavy blood price on this Bull, I
hope you're worth it. They were good people, and will be sorely missed.
I'm sorry to hear SWAF was a bug, a Mantis you say? I never suspected
that they may have infiltrated you, I thought some greedy shitehawk had
wormed his way into the team, a simple mouthpiece. But Bull, I remeber
when we first spoke, you said the Mantids were anti-bug, or at least bug
hunters, I've seen Wasps, and I suppose you;d call them cockroaches, but
no Mantis with the Chess Men. I suspect you've not yet found your
traitor, why would a mantis be feeding information to creatures it
opposed a short while before. No, I fear you are wrong, SWAF was not
the traitor of whom I spoke.

You may have lost two of yours Bull, but to date I've now lost 18 good
solid people. Three of them close friends. Oh, I have been reliably
informed by Canis that all the mercs perished at the safehouse. Too
many faces, too many names....

What is so special about Reba, that they would want a child as a queen

Anyways... Yeah, Stands is a bug... I never suspected any infiltration,
either, especially not by anyone in my extended family. And I'll keep my
eyes on the rest of the group, because as you say, there mey yet be a
traitor in our midst.

And I'm sorry about your people, DA... I owe them, and you, more than I can
ever repay. I wish I could have prevented their deaths... I had hoped at
least some of them had survived. i knew of only two who had died for sure.

As for my daughter, I'm not really sure. Stands siaid something about her
making a good queen, or something. i know the girl is special... After
all, how many 4 year olds do you know that can cast spells... Low level
spells, granted, but she can still cast. She has the potential to be VERY
powerful someday, and I guess the bugs figure that she would make for a very
powerful queen.

Look, here's a vid recording of my confrontation with her. it shows taht
she's not working with teh Chess Men, but unfortunately explains little else.

+++++Begin Download SWAF.1

The view appears to be that of an eye cybercam. Along the top left of the
vid feed read the words "Bull Cybercam" and a date.

Bull rushes through a door into what appears to be a kitchen area. On the
floor is the body of what looks to be a mercemary or soldier of some sort.
His throat has been torn out.

"Damn.." Bull mutters to himself. "That was Zeke, one of the Dark
Avenger's Mercs. So much for our Guard back here.... Stands, what are you
up too?"

The view looks up from the dead body to the back door, which is just
closing. Bull rushes outside, and the sharp blade of a pike inscribed with
odd runes can be seen as Bull raises the weapon. He looks to his left, and
the alleyway, although littered with garbage appears to be empty. He looks
to the right, and sees an attractive Amerind Female standing there holding
the struggling form of a small ork child.

"So Bull, seems you found out a little sooner than I would have liked." The
Amerind snarls, her bright green eyes almost glowing.

"Daddy!" The ork child screams shrilly. "Daddy! She's not Stands! She
killed that man in the kitchen! Ripped out his throat with her bare hands!
And she has green skin!"

"It will be ok honey. I won't let her hurt you." Bull says to the little
girl. He looks up at stands and shifts his pike. "So, Stands-With-A-Fist,
seems you were the bug all along. Let her go."

"And what? You'll let me go?" Stands laughs harshly and moves her left
hand to cup Reba's neck. "I don't want to hurt the girl, Bull, but I will
if I have to. You don't understand what she will mean to me, to us. She
will be very powerful, Bull. And I will make her even more powerful than
anything this planet has seen in millenia."

"I don't know what the frag you're talking about, Stands." Bull growls.
"What happened to you? You are my... *Were* my friend. We trusted you."

"You always were soft, Bull." Stands snarls at him. "Look around you.
Even
now your friends are getting attacked by those that had been following you.
The 'others'. They aren't human, you know. My sisters and I helped you,
and me, escape the zone and thwart them once. Now I have the means to stop
them once and for all. But if I have to go through you, and every other
Human on this planet to do so, I will. You're too weak to deal with the
'others'."

"What are you talking about? I..." Bull's sentence is cut short as a loud
shot rings out, and Stands is flung forward as a bullet tears into her
shoulder from behind.

The small ork girl stumbles away from the Amerind, and Bull rushes forward
and grabs her. He can see five forms coming down the alley from behind
Stands.

Stands mutters to herself, then shimmers a greenish color, and she briefly
appears in her true form, a humanoid mantis. Then she dematerializes and
streaks off. From the alleyway, one of the figures barks an order, and two
of the forms shimmer brown, then streak after the Mantis, their spirit forms
appearing as Wasps.

Bull grabs Reba and stuffs her into a dumpster as bullets spatter the
building next to him. "Stay here" he whispers, then grunts. He looks
down, and a Bullet wound has ripped open his left leg. "Frag." He mutters,
then turns, raising his pike.

Bull dives headfirst into the oncoming enemy, his pike ripping into them.
He slices through one, then into another.

His head rocks back as something slams into his face, and the picture blurs
as a red haze of blood pours over the eye that the cybercam rests in.

After several seconds of red blurriness, the picture clears as Bull wipes his
eye. The three guard lay on the ground in front of him. He limps back to
the dumpster
where Reba is hiding. She climbs out into his arms.

"Daddy!" She squeals... "You're hurt."

She places her hands on his shoulder, where blood gushes out of a bullet
wound. Her hands glow and slowly the wound closes up some, and the bleeding
slows to a trickle. She slumps into his arms, and he carries her back into
the house. Behind him, in the distance, he can hear the sound of gunfire
and pounding footsteps.

+++++ End Download SWAF.1

Well, make what you will of that...

Take it easy, DA, and good luck. i'll squash a few bugs for you and yours,
should any more get in my way.]<<<<<

Don't be mad at Orion, there's enough anger and hatred in this world
already, and we have far tougher and more deserving people against us
for your anger to be better directed elsewhere.

It's possible that Stands did give the position away, and maybe Bulls,
distracting her was sufficient for her purpose to fail, but something
doesn't ring right about it. I have a Mage coming through who has some
experience with dealing with these creatures, and I'll talk to him
shortly, there's something about that vid film of Bull's that set bells
off in the back of my mind, something that was too strange, but I can't
put my finger on it yet.

Please Canis, be careful, too many people have died already, far too
many, and bringing more into a conflict like this may be a mistake.
Part of the IF problem so far as I see it, has been the size of the
group, smaller units move faster and are harder to track, don't make
yourself a target by turning your group into a large target. Small, is
better, faster, and can hit harder because they don't see you coming.
If you must employ more people, make sure they are fully aware of what
we're facing, part of the problem I faced early on was that I'd never
met the bugs before, only heard vague rumours and wrote it off as
sensationalist media garbage, I now know better, and it's cost many
people for that lesson to be learned.

And for God's sake, or if you prefer for the sake of Wolf, don't go
hunting these creatures, _they_ are far too proficient at that already.
I know it goes against the grain, but run, fight from a moving stand,
wear them down gradualy, and when they're least expecting it, attack,
and hit em hard, then run again, don't stay around to enjoy the sight
and count coup, it's not worth the trouble. At this time, we are little
more than lone guerillas fighting a superior force, and we must act and
thing like guerillas, in order to stand a chance of success. You've
spent some time fighting rebels, to know their methods, learn to use
these methods, for us, they are the most effective at this time.

Once we have the proof, and the strength, we can call on the Shadows,
and get something organised to take these... insects out of the
equation. We also need to know who's helping them, I can't believe that
they could have got this organised without some sort of assistance.
They have a base of operations in Chicago, and possibly elsewhere, they
have access to military equipment, which means they must be fairly
secure in their position, maybe through hosting and infiltration, or
maybe they have an ally, I don't know yet, but I'm hoping to find out
soon. Gates ran their matrix last night, and though he's pretty beaten
up, I'm hoping he got something worthwhile out of it. I'll let you know
what he's found as soon as I know.

I should be meeting Emma soon as well, and I'll find out what she knows
and what this proposal of hers is going to be. If we are lucky, she
will have information that will help to bring these creatures down.

Good luck to you as well Canis, and remember, even Wolf knows when to
back down.]<<<<<

Aw, hell, I guess that's what makes him so much fun to be around though.

I don't think I've taught them respect yet, all I've taught them so far
is how good I am at running, but that's going to change real soon. I
