>>>>>[Greetings to all ya mons and wo-mons. I've been asked to tell ya all
about da visit to da Santa Claws....er, Claus visit to da Haven, in Redmond.

Please excuse my questions, as I find da actions of da hu-mons very
confusing indeed, and dis one was worse dan ususal. By da end of it all,
da mons I was helping out were probably a bit tired of all my questions.
C'est la morte, n'est pas? Oh, my use of da English language is still
poor, so please bear with me. Merci.

Da mons and I gathered up all da toys for da little, young hu-mons,
relatively early two nights ago. Our particular duty was to deliver da
toys too da...children is the word, I think...at Haven. Da vehicle was big
and some of da magicians, pretty good with usin da mana, were keeping it
hidden with a big construct. I know them to be constructs, but my helper,
da mon with da deck, says dat they're illusion spells. Some of da spells
were on da vehicle, some on da mons I was working with, and so on. I was
doin da overwatch from da astral plane, keepin any unfriendly constructs
from hurtin da mons or da toys or any of da children.

We hit some of da "worse" areas of Redmond first. Personally, I like da
dark, violent areas of da sprawl, but da mons were worried dat we'd get
hurt or attacked by da gangs, or da mob, or other mons who wanted our
vehicle. And it happened, to. Some of da gangs started to take da toys
from da kids livin in da areas we passed da toys out in. Dat made a lot of
da mons angry, and they told da ganger mons dat it wasn't in da "Christmas
spirit." Not dat da "Christmas spirit" is all too valid, but it's a pretty
ideal, and I was helpin with it dis time. Some of da ganger mons had to be
convinced da hard way, but with da kids around, we were careful. I don't
think some of them have woken up yet.

And I was busy once in a while, keepin da constructs from hurtin any of da
mons or any of da kids or da vehicle da toys were in. After all, it's not
every year dat da Mon, Santa Clause, shows up and gives little mons and
wo-mons da toys. Not in these parts of da sprawl.

Actually, a very few, and pretty brave, media folk showed up to cover da
story. I overheard some of da media-mons sayin dat this sorta thing was
goin on all over da city, and all over da country two. Dat was da plan, of
course. To give some of da poor people who never had nothin and had never
gotten a gift except to live another day, to give them somethin out of pure
kindness. Being me, dat still confuses me, but maybe dat's just all you
hu-mons. Oh well.

We got to da Haven last, as it was on our way out of Redmond, and its in
what has become one of da safer and nicer parts of da sprawl. Pat was
there to greet us all at da door, and da kids in da apartments across da
street were carefully wakin up, and those awake were stickin there faces to
da windows, lookin out at us. It was about dis point where Pat took up
some of da work of keepin da illusions on da mons up, since da magicians
were gettin tired, and a few had been hurt some by gangers takin shots at
us. Them gangers are still asleep now too.

But da kids came runnin out of da....da....da..., Encole de ta mere!
Da....dormatories, dat's da word. They came out of da dormatories and
wandered around da street as da mons gave out toys to everyone. Da kids
were, as da mon with da deck says, "bouncin off da walls" they were havin
soo much fun. And some of them tore open da toys then, others waited.
Some of da kids traded toys to get what they wanted more, and so on. It
was fun, and I could even relax some, since I didn't need to worry about
constructs attackin da mons at Haven.

A few more newsfolk came to Haven, but da time was late, so there weren't
dat many of them. When we left, Pat said thank you, and so did all da
kids, in one way or another, and we got back with no problems.

All ya hu-mons confuse me, ya know? All dis about da "Spirit of Christmas"
is all sweetness and light, and it don't work with da real world. Maybe
I'll never understand all of ya, but I'll keep tryin.]<<<<<
