As for Nakamura... you and me both. Neat work, wish whoever it was had
tagged Heihachi too. Owe them some drinks, if I ever find out who it
was. A friend of ours took out Kim Chun Pak, too, though his outfit's in
such a mess I doubt anyone's really noticed: Bartolo's eaten up
virtually all Kim'a turf.

Okay... if you didn't know, then you should. Heihachi sold us out to a
contaminated waste disposal outfit called Butler Chemical, who think
they're going to build a toxic-materials plant on our land. Heihachi
wants the Easy Eight to skim back what Butler pays the workers. Local
input is going to be limited to indentured labour at the plant, and
prostitutes here at the Eight. You may imagine we aren't delighted.

The work crews arrive the day after New Year's. We're going to stop
them. I'd like you and your crew to back us up, in case what we're
planning doesn't work. Come down to the Eight and I'll show you what we
need.

And thanks.]<<<<<

Sunset in the countryside. Barely visible in the background a destroyed small
farm, left to rot by some agri"cultural" corporation after the former owners
probably have been forced to leave sometimes in the 20ies. A small camp fire is
burning smokeless. Around the fire nine people are seated, and a small barrel is
located among them. Seven of the nine are obviously a team, have seen much,
and lived through more - although relaxed, and most of them holding a glass of
amber liquor, their field of vision overlaps, and covers the whole area. You also
notice they all keep some kind of weapon nearby - at least a handgun, most of
them even assault rifles, and everybody is also armed with melee weapons like
large knifes or swords.

The other two are younger. Not even twenty years old, you guess, wearing gang
colours on their well-worn leather jackets. They, too, keep weapons within reach,
but keeps looking at the others with a curiosity that shows the young couple
doesn't know them too well.

The ork woman helps herself to another filling from the barrel, smelling at the
glass. A smile grosses the rugged face, then she speaks up, "OK, another one
to honour your friends down there. Do you really think they'll come here? From
what I've seen, dey..." She stops at the slurred pronounciation, then tries again,
"...they" - she nods contentedly - "are quite interesting..." After
another curipus
glance at her glass, she sips from it.

"Yeah," answers Orion, idly carving at a piece of wood with his Katana,
"interesting may be the understatement of the month, but basically I agree. But
whether they come or not, we gotta decide what to do next."

The black haired woman makes a waving gesture, thus drawing the attention of
the group. Especially the two young gangers observed her very closely. "We
_have_ to go to Black-Fire-Man-Sees-Dead-Space and help him. Some Not-Alive-
Living finds him, a... spirit you call it, and wounds him. I help Black-Fire-Man-
Sees-Dead-Space and make his meat-body back to his real body, but not as
good as you can-do, Master. But I cannot find the Not-Alive-Living, it's not here,
but it hurts the one you tell me to watch. We say Black-Fire-Man-Sees-Dead-
Space find our enemies, and he bleeds. We help."

There is silence after Okami's outburst, until Orion silently, barely to hear, throws
in, "But we need to earn some yen, too." "But this is about someone we
tell to
do something," Okami counters, "and we are... are... what is that word -
responsible?"

"No, not really," Fohdytoo looks up from the disassambled HK227 he was just
showing to the young gangers, "our responsibility is mainly to take care Black
Fire gets payed. He knew what he was goin' into, knew he'd be facing dangers.
But we need to make some nuyen pretty soon anyway. My good ole warhorse
over ther - " he nods somewhere out of camera view - "urgently needs repairs.
Hadn't we found that... abandoned" - there is a strange emphasis on the word -
"truck just outside Chi-Town, we'd be walking by now. Plus, our ammo is on low
level - ok, we'll make tow or four small actions, or one or two larger, but then I'd
be worried latest. We _need_ Cat's money!"

"What about splitting forces?" Sgt. Davids asks, "Some of us hunt this
illa...illu...
this light-tower in Seattle, and the rest returns, getting that artefact?"

"Too low on magical resources to do that. We expect arcane opposition in both
jobs, and have only Canis and Trixter here. And - no offense menat - " Fohgdytoo
nods toward the female ganger, "Trixter isn't good enough yet to stand the threat
alone."

"I know we're not long enough with you guys to really have a saying in this,"
the
girl - Trixter - responds, "but what Fohdytoo says is right. With the Rovers, we
usually had two or more of us who knew some kind of magic, and as you know,
that wasn't enough. In the end, they got us. Right in the 'cleaned areas', Hah!"
She spits into the campfire.

"OK, so we need money, but I think we all agree Illuminatus and his crazy
followers need to be wiped out - " "_OR_ stopped," Orion throws in,
"yeah, or
stopped. Plus, we might get a visit from Thor, err, Red Shift, _plus_" Canis
gasps for air, "we should look out for that BigDaddy guy - as Gates asked about
him, and this dark Stranger fellow isn't too likable. Mght even be connected to
Illuminatus, with all this 'Huuu... I am the ghost that stalks the night' stuff."
Canis
flapps his arms and draws faces, which draws a laughter from the team. "Aehm.
So far everybody agreeing?"

Several nods and grunts of agreement answer the shaman. "Good. Personally,
agree with Okami, we should stop Illuminatus, and stand by Black Fire,
especially as he already seems to have met dark-grey ice. On the other hand,
you are right, we need to have resources. Do we have enough to set up a bounty
on Illuminatus?"

"No," Jani answers, "not by far. Not if the rest of the communtity senses
her as
dangerous as you do."

"Her?" Oron wants to know. "Yeah, her. Why? Uh... I mean... I always
thought
of her... hm... Illuminatus as 'her'. You didn't?"

"No, in fact, I didn't... interesting. Hm." Orion gets up, and walks over to the
barrel.

"Run analysis on the data, Orion," Canis commands, "and did we get answer
from Lilith yet?"

"No, not yet. Must be busy."

"Damn. Ok, send an urgent message to her. We need all info they can, and
can't, spare. And contact Mitchell too, let's see how far his 'I owe you' reaches.
Okami, you return to Black Fire, protect him. Contact me if any problem arises.
What else?"

"Marlowe," the young ganger throws in.

"Mar... uh, yeah, forgot it. Orion?"

"Yeah, yeah, shovce it all on us small little underprivileged elves, as we already
carry the world on our small shoulders, and have nothing better to do then..." the
elf gets up agan and leaves the camp fire, under the laughter of the group.
