Subject: Some evidence that RUFUS is real!!!

>>>>>[Well, after doing a little bit of snooping, I really am
beginning to think that RUFUS is an AI. Let me show you why.

RUFUS's message from earlier today when he said he was at the
'bar' originated from Haven, a decker's virtual neutral zone. It's
a well known publically accessible LTG. I'm sure most of use have
been there at one time or another. Now, whenever someone comes to
Haven, they arrive via a port. Any messages sent out to the
networks must route back through their port. All messages sent to
the network include this port number as part of the normal LTG
address.

For example:

MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 124-203-124:04ef

The last four digits are the port number. Usually, the LTG trailer
is flushed when viewing messages, but a little creative hacking
can find them.

Now, on to RUFUS. I checked the outgoing message log from Haven
around the time that RUFUS posted. Here's what I found:

MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 1325-242-995:0331
MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 1325-242-995:49bd
MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 1325-242-995:00f2
MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 1325-242-995:0331
MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 1325-242-995:
MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 1325-242-995:4023
MESSAGE SOURCE: LTG 1325-242-995:ae23

Notice that huge blank? That post originated by the CPU itself,
not from a user. I cross-checked too. That was RUFUS's
message!!!]<<<<<

These messages were posted a long time ago on a mailing list far, far away. The copyright to their contents probably lies with the original authors of the individual messages, but since they were published in an electronic forum that anyone could subscribe to, and the logs were available to subscribers and most likely non-subscribers as well, it's felt that re-publishing them here is a kind of public service.
