got
us killed when he bounced his chopper off the empire state building! Splut's
right, this thing is getting too complex to follow easily maybe you should
recap so that any newcomers can decide what side they're on (if there are sides
in this mess) ]<<<<<

>>>>>[ OK, I'm back in control. Well here's a recap of the events of the
last
few months involving MagnaTech. I'll try to keep it brief but it may still
take a few Mp.
It all started in early November 2053 when the MagnaTech main office
building blew up for no apparent reason. Some reports say that a Dragon was
seen flying away from the site of the explosion, matching the description of
Tirandor, owner of Dragon's Den International which is headquartered aboard the
reconditioned aircraft carrier Intrepid here in NY. Examining the remains left
behind showed that a team had made a run on the building, and were caught in
the explosion. Further investigation revealed that the Dragon seen was a
helicopter masked by an illusion spell. The chopper was sent by DDI to place
some kind of probe on the roof when the building went up.
While we were investigating the explosion, Tommy "the dragon" Harada,
a known assassin for the Yakuza was captured, indicted, and made a daring
escape while being transferred to prison. The reports from Metro Police Inc.
revealed that Harada had some heavy biological enhancements, thus the term
VatJob was used to describe him. Shortly after Harada's escape, Tirandor made
a huge attempt to takeover MagnaTech. That's when things started getting
really wierd.
Apparently MagnaTech was able to mount incredible resistance to the
takeover, and was ready to match Tirandor's private army in an all out war if
need be. Suprisingly, word had it that MagnaTech had hired Tommy Harada for
the impending corporate war. Tensions mounted for several weeks when a board
meeting was called aboard the Intrepid to decide the fate of MagnaTech.
As the meeting commenced (known in corporate journals now as the
Friday the Thirteenth Fiasco) Tirandor came very close to owning the company.
That was when things got even messier. That was when Joseph Yoshida,
president of Yoshida Technologies in Seattle made his suprise appearance, and
ended up being the major shareholder with Tirandor as a lesser partner.
Once Yoshida had gained control of the company, another suprise guest
appeared, Tommy Harada. He attacked the original MagnaTech board members but
failed and was apparently killed (we now know that he only faked it so that he
could break from the Yakuza.)
After that meeting, things seemed to return to normal for a while.
(seemed to, but not really). Yoshida's senior VP, Lincoln Howe seemed to be
in charge of Yoshida's MagnaTech holdings, and began denying Dragon's Den
personnel access to many MagnaTech facilities. Tirandor managed to place a
number of probes around the site of the destroyed MagnaTech building that
managed to gain some data before Yoshida Tech security teams, under orders from
Lincoln Howe,removed them.
During this time, a virus hit MagnaTechs computer system, erasing much
of the data that could have solved the whole mystery. That is when we started
to discover some things about Tommy Harada's background. After some coersion
by my samurai friend Big Jake, the Yakuza revealed that they created Tommy
Harada specifically as an assassin (we later learned that they didn't actually
create him, but just bought him). The Yakuza were not too pleased at the way
we convinced them to give this information, so my team and I decided to lay low
for while, going our seperate ways and picking up a little information along
the way.
After the New Year we returned to find that things hadn't changed much
since Lincoln Howe wouldn't let Tirandor near anything important. Now it was
time to take some action. I examined the data that DDI had collected through
their probes and found that there was a cavern under the MagnaTech building.
One run later we managed to doublecross the team that DDI sent in to get us,
and got away with the equipment from a bioware/cloning facility that had been
hidden under the ruined building. This lab was indeed the place where Tommy
Harada had been born.
While we were taking on the MagnaTech run, others had managed to
obtain important information. Nightstalker discovered that there was a
mystery board member in MagnaTech, and he was a former UCAS army officer,
who was as corrupt as can be. His name is Roger Quention. Quention apparently
works for or with UCAS general Trevor. Trevor is equally corrupt, but very
enigmatic. While we've learned several things about Quention, we've learned
precious little about Trevor.
Also, an anonymous message reveals that Yoshida Tech has an AI in it's
possession. Shortly after, the AI named RUFUS escaped Lincoln Howe's control,
and is now loose in the matrix with a large number of Howe's deckers searching
for him. More news hits the nets as Howe reveals himself to be a complete
corp scumbag preying on Joseph Yoshida's kindness. Howe threatens the group
of deckers (all of us that is). It is soon revealed that Howe has another AI,
named MONICA, and is planning to send MONICA to retrieve RUFUS.
We also found out that Tommy Harada had hired the team of runners who
were in the MagnaTech building when it exploded. Apparently he had been
been planning to leave the Yakuza long before the incident aboard the Intrepid.
It soon became obvious that Tirandor was after the clone lab I had
captured. Shortly after the run I was contacted by a former Yakuza thug named
Now and Yen, who takes me to a meeting with none other than Tommy Harada.
Harada needs to know about his origins, it has become his life's mission to
find out who he is. During the meeting, a pair of DDI goons come in and try to
kill Tommy and myself. Being with the toughest VatJob on the block saved my
life and helped solidify the agreement that I'd help him.
Analyzing the data from the clone lab I discovered that he was cloned
from a mix of DNA from various sources, and genetically manipulated to be the
perfect fighting machine with built in alpha-grade custom bioware. Even more
importantly, I learned how his mind was formed. His mind was made by taking
some kind of imprint from someone else, and being put through what the lab
notes only call the "Theta cycle." The notes said who donated the mind imprint
, none other than Quention himself!
We then discovered that Quention had been financing his operations
from a drug lab in europe that he captured, on orders from Trevor during the
Eurowars. Not of major importance, but does help explain how MagnaTech was
able to resist the takeover. Meanwhile DDI prepares to sell off it's Magna
stock now that Tirandor can't get what he was after. Yoshida also starts
selling off pieces of MagnaTech, but not the AI division.
Recent developments have revealed that Quention and Howe have been
working together (he called my team two-bit, the fragger). Apparently Quention
wants to reassemble MagnaTech from the pieces being sold off, but Howe won't
sell everything he has.
In the mean time, Tirandor has cut off a section of the Intrepid from
the outside world. There is a large area of his floating headquarters where
the computers and security cameras are cut off, and a mana barrier has been
erected. He's doning something sinister in there, I'm shure of it.
Now DDI has a huge contract out on my life, and also have a contract
on Harada that makes mine look like chump change. My samurai friend Big
Jake dissapeared about two days ago, and I fear the worst.
Sorry if I left out the part when Harada went to Seattle and shot you
in the gut before whacking your Johnson,Nightstalker, I figured you'd be too
traumatized from the event.
Lastly, The deckers here on the net (you know who you are guys! keep
up the good work and we might figure out just why all this drek has been going
on) have banded together to help RUFUS stay free. It's open season on Yoshida
deckers (at least the ones Howe sent), and an all out Matrix war is immenent.
Howe's got a team of corp deckers with virtually unlimited resources, but
we've got an unorganized mob of free agent deckers who have the advantage when
it comes to talent. I've counted two of Howe's deckers down so far, one that
RUFUS "munched" and one that I nailed (any others?).
Anyway thats the current situation here in the shadows. Feel free
to add anything I've left out (sorry if I did) ]<<<<<

>> Howe is trying to screw me. He's letting his petty ambitions get in
the way of the big picture. <<
>> Howe is a fool. He thought he could keep me away from Magna forever.
My team neutralized his security, then the runners showed up. <<
>> Those petty criminals caused so much trouble by capturing the lab.
It doesn't matter anymore, subjects Alpha and Omega are doing quite
well, even if they seem to be working against us. The new experience
of betraying the father will serve my purposes just the same! <<
>> I do not understand your motives, but your offer is tempting. <<
>> Yes, I will buy the majority of your outstanding MagnaTech
stock...<<
>> And I will keep the clone lab when it is found. <<
>> The lab is not important at this time. The subjects are. The key to
repeating the experiment is in them not in the equipment. <<
>> What about that fool Howe. <<
>> I should let those foolish deckers have him, but he may still be of
use to me. <<
>> Very well, your partnership with Howe is now insolvent, and our
partnership is renewed! <<
>> And may you not try to cross me as you did before, Dragon! <<

paths
are all fragged up. If it was Jake, he only knows what little I've been able
to teach him about decking. If he got his hands on a terminal, he was proably
a sitting duck for whoever cut him off. I'll see what I can do, maybe I can
reconstruct some of the data and at least figure out part of the path that
message came through. ]<<<<<
