This is Norm. I have a portable link and am reporting live from sub-level
6 at this precision warehouse. This link is jacked directly into my datajack.
Thats to Sierra, we managed to get this deep into the complex with very
little resistance, although some of the air-ducts we had to get through
were a little bit tighter than my troll-body liked. At one point we did
get pinned down by some kind of hover-droid with a machine gun. One of
the bodyguards got shot in the shoulder, and I grabbed his panther and
blew away the droid, and a large chunk of the wall behind it. Nice gun.
In any case, Sierra seems to know where we are going, so we're trying to
let her lead the way.
We are now standing in front of a large steel door. Sierra says this is
it. There is a coded lock here and Sierra is trying different
combinations. Whoops . . . another droid . . . well, scratch one droid.
Nice gun.
Sierra has the door open. CHRIST!, a bolt of electricity just snaked out,
catching the other bodyguard. He's dead. I'm firing into the room at the
source of the bolt, some kind of energy emmitter.
We are entering now. There is a large computer console here and a huge
bank of machines in a pit, which extends down about three stories. I
_hope_ this is MONICA.
Joe is attempting a shutdown. Access Denied. Figures.
Sierra wants to jack in directly, I won't let here. It's too dangerous.
Joe still is being denied access.
What's this? There is a CPU meter on the wall here that measure the amout
of CPU time the computer is using. It is registering almost zero!!! Hey
Sierra, what do you make of this?
She says that MONICA must not be there. Could she have written herself to
the network? There is nowhere else MONICA could be except here.
Joe is recommending we cut the power. There's an emergency cut off switch
over here and I'm going pull it. Just did. The computer shut down on
cue.
The intruder klaxon has also shut off, I think we just killed MONICA, or
would have if she was here.
I'm jacking out of this portable link as it is getting distracting. I'll
contact you once we get back outside. Is MONICA still alive?]<<<<<
