>>>>>[ I have news regarding the Copenhagen chemical factory. Due to my
being
overcome with excitement, I have determined to permit the newsFAX [extracted
from this evening's 2200 hours (PST) report speak for itself:

>>BEGIN TRANSMISSION<<

SHADOWS: "This is Joe Shadows, reporting for National Network, speaking to you
from just outside of Copenhagen, where tragedy and destruction have recently
disturbed the serenity of this community. Local Danes were awakened from their
slumber by a tremendous explosion that rocked the surrounding area at
approximately 2:15am. At the center of the blast was Omega Chemical Research
and Production Company, an American firm based here, and was, before this
morning, a very profitable member of the business community here.

You can see behind me the ruins of the facility...the fires have been
successfully put out a few hours ago, some of them chemical fires which posed
quite a difficulty for local firefighters.

Investigators on the scene believe the explosion to be the result of
overstressed equipment and improper safety precautions. Volatile chemicals
stored on the premises added to the conflagration, leaving very little of the
facility intact.

The blast was so loud, that we have received reports it was heard for miles
around. Malmo, the Swedish city just across a 20 to 30 kilometer strip of the
Baltic Sea heard the explosion. Also, the S.M.S. Friedrich Der Grosse, lead
ship in a Prussian carrier group SOME 50 TO 60 KILOMETERS OUT TO SEA and bound
for its home naval base, communicated to the Danish authorities at 2:25am, I
quote: "We have monitored a large explosion in your general vicinity at
approximately 0220 hours...." They went on to ask if help was needed. Despite
the generosity of the offer, Danish authorities decided to decline.

KRISTIN: An interesting gesture... What about injuries and property damage?

SHADOWS: Figures on fatalities are quite sketchy at the moment, as
firefighters are still sifting through the wreckage. So far, there have been
at least 50 bodies found, none of which survived the detonation of the
chemical stores. Although no names have been released yet, I would imagine
most of them to be security men.

In the area surrounding the plant trees were flattened, there have been many
injuries, but not reported deaths from areas outside the compound as of yet.
There was some structural damage, especially to smaller buildings, from the
huge gust of wind, but nothing substantial. Without doubt, the buildings
inside the compound itself are considered total losses, as practically none of
the structures survived, as you can see behind me.

Actually, the community was rather lucky, in that despite its proximity to the
city, the plant is actually rather isolated from other buildings and
residential areas. When asked about the incident, the Burgermeister Wilhelm
Vanderwege blamed international terroristic factions and cited the high number
of jobs lost to be of utmost importance. In fact, . . .

KRISTIN: Uhhhh...THANK YOU, Shadows. What further information we've managed
to put together about Omega is that it was operated by American interests, and
records we have obtained name a Mr. James N. Hall of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
as the owner and CEO. Neither Mr. Hall nor any of the top executives of the
firm could not be reached for comment by the time of this broadcast.

We will have further updates as we get more information about the blast.

In other news...

Denmark seems to be the place for unusual goings-on as of late, as in another
bizarre incident, airtraffic across Denmark was put on hold for nearly 5 hours
this morning, from midnight to 5:30am. Many planes had to be re-routed to
other airports in Sweden and Norway, or even London in a few cases.

The delay was due to an freak failure of most of the RADAR and tracking stations
across the country. The cause of this problem has not yet been isolated, but
the systems were successfully brought back on line and appear to be functioning
normally, and airtraffic has since been resumed.
