>>>>>[Well Seatle sure hasn't changed in that it can change from a nice day
to a blood bath in seconds. I was out enjoying the opressive smog in the down
town sections near the Sound and I wound up at the edges of a riot. I asked
one of the people what the drek was goin' on and he told me that one of the
Metahuman Rights Organizations won a court case against the Humanis Polyclub
and that they were going to go march all over downtown and up to the front
doors of some Humanis chapterhouses! I guess that the members of the
chapterhouses didn't like the idea and that they were forming en mass to meet
the marchers with street justice. I decided that it would be better to
miss this meeting of the minds and began to look for a public telecom to
get a cab so I could avoid the fighting. I eventually found one that worked
and I leaned against a building to wait for my ride to show. As I stood
there two patrol 1 cop cars and a mobmaster pulled up to block off the street
about 20 meters away from me. 'that's cool' I thought. I didn't mind having
Lone Star around when the streets were going to erupt in riots at anytime.
As I watched them set up wooden baricades across the road I noticed a
euro-car westwind pull to a stop on the opposite side of the street. I
automatically looked for an escape route incase it was a psyco ready to
waste everyone in sight. There was a concrete dranage ditch within a few
steps, so feeling safe with a quick escape route I turned back to watch
the car. At this time I began to hear the sounds of far off fighting
with the ocasional gun shot. Then the window of the westwind came down.
The driver was an ork with dark skin and his hair done in dreads. Nuts
and bolts were tied to the end of his hair. He chuckled like he had
just heard a joke the held something out of the window. It looked like a
small hand held radio. Then when he pressed the button all hell broke
loose. There was a small explosion inside the mobmaster and the sound
of screams echoed out of its hatch. One man fell halfway out of the
hatch, his face hitting the pavement with a sharp crack. Two officers ran
to their friend, grabed his arms and tried to lift him, but they then began
to cry out. within a second both me droped to the ground like rag dolls,
blood coming from their mouths. The other officers pulled up short of the
hatch, one of the quicker officers yelled out, "Nerve gas! Back up!"
I began to pull out a dikote throwing star from my bag and undo the strap
holding my katana weapon focus. The ork in the car laughed and said,
"look at them die!" to someone else in the car, although I couldn't see
anyone else. Then he looked in my direction. "What the frag are you lookin'
at!" I saw his hand rise up out of the window with a manhunter pistol in
his grip. If I wasn't a pysical adapt he would have got me before I moved
but my star lodged in his forearm before he took his shot. He droped the
gun with a startled scream. the gun hit the ground about the time that I
was halfway down into the 2meter deep drainage ditch. ducking low I sprinted
further along the ditch hoping to escape in the direction of the cops.
Then the sound of the twin MMGs on the mobmaster sounded. One of the patrol
cars exploded. I could hear the ork yelling something that sounded like
a song of some sort, and suddenly the area of the ditch that I had decended
was covered in an explosion of acid. So with a Mobmaster blasting everything
around it on one side of me and an ork shaman droping manipulation spells on
the other I did the only thing I could. I ran back up into the street.
When I got to the street the mobmaster was running over the second cop car
and launching gas grenades further into the rioters. There was no visible
gas coming from the grenades but where ever they landed people droped like
rag dolls. The ork was redirecting his gaze towards me. I switched to
astral perception to wait for the incoming spell, readied another star,
and began to mumble a japanesse poem to center myself upon the task
ahead. The ork begn to sing his song and power lept from his aura towards
mine. I realized that if I hadn't been ready to destroy the spell in astral
space that his power would have utterly destroyed me, he was no simple
street shaman. But when it was the force of his spell against my skill
with my weapon focus, his spell was no match. His eyes opened wide when
his spell failed, then my star ripped through his mindshield, through his
head rest, then through his rear window. I cursed my distraction and failure
to anticipate his dodge. He grined and began to sing his song again, until
he saw me pull out another star. The sound of his tires pealing out on the
street combined strangely with the sound of MMG fire, and the ork speed off
in reverse. I decided to save my star sinse it cost nearly 1000Y to dikote
each one. My cab arrivied a minute later.
I guess that the Lone Star special weapons devision finally downed
the Mobmaster, after it had geeked nearly 500 people. I called one of my old
contacts with the star and got the lowdown on the investigation. Apparently
someone (my guess is the ork, of course) broke into the Lone Star vehicle
lots and placed a program into the autopilot that caused to to opperate
like it was in hostile teratory surounded by enemys. The autopilot then
acted voilently and attempted to get friendly teratory. The program told
it to use all weapons and get to the Renraku Arch', its supposed home turf,
but the path took it strait through the rioters. The remote controls had
also been disabled, the tear gas was replace with seven 7 nerve gas and
one grenade of the same gas was wired to explode inside the vehicle.
I guess that the mobmaster scared all the rioters indoors, but I hear that
each side blames the other and plans to get revenge soon. They'll probally
stop their plans when lone star releases their report. God what a fun first
day home.]<<<<<
