>>>>>[Sorry to have been away so long, but I've been on assignment. In
fact, I believe that I may have some leads on the Yoshida kidnapping/AI
droid conspiracy, and my investigation assignment over the next few months
may unravel even more of it. Here's what I've learned:
Meyers has been monitored by the FBI for some time. His high position
in corporate R&D made him a potential objective of a Shadowrun on American soil.
Meyers was known to associate with Japanese corpskids who hung out in various
coffeehouses, karaoke bars, and laundromats all over Seattle. Some of these
people were later discovered to be members of the Yakuza. I suspect that Meyers
may have either deliberately told or let his tongue slip about his theories
on robotics and drone control.
I rather doubt that Meyers was able to use the lab and resources on a
personal project; there was simply too much security and supervision for him
to risk such a high-profile task. Rather, I believe that the Yakuza, suspecting
what he was up to, kidnapped him and his equipment, possibly with inside help.
How does Yoshida fit into this? I believe I have a lead.
One of the Yak contacts Meyers had was Kinziru Asai, an up-and-coming
junior Suit in Renraku. His uncle is Ikaru Tokugawa, a high-level oyabun
in the Ginsu clan. While no evidence of criminal activity exists on Asai,
the FBI, Interpol, and Lone Star have monitored the activities of him and his
minions for years. Tokugawa and Yoshida were once business partners; Yoshida
had the vision while Tokugawa had the financial backing of the clan. It is
unknown as to whether or not Yoshida was aware of Tokugawa's Yakuza connections,
or if Tokugawa was aware that Yoshida was an Eagle shaman. It is likely that
one or both facts were unknown, because it seems that Yoshida made a sudden
break with Tokugawa and started Yoshida Tech some years later without
Tokugawa's raid. Contacts of mine in Interpol say that the break coincides
nicely with what could be called a 'lull' in Tokugawa's criminal career, in
which he lost a hand (which has not since been replaced).
My investigation over the next few months is to find Tokugawa. We are
currently attempting to trap him for supplying arms to that bizaare policlub
in Texas that activated a sub-kiloton range nuclear device when Federal agents
moved in. More information is pending.]<<<<<
