The power focus Ragman took from his now-deceased mage is most interesting.
I've never seen anything like it, and neither has my talismonger contact. It
appears to have some sort of "humanoid energy" bound up within it. My first
impression is that it might have been designed by a very powerful mage, and
given to a lesser mage as a "gift," but, unbeknownst to the recipient, gives
the donor control over the other mage. Powers Above, could that be true? Could
one design a power focus which would give him/her control over another,
allowing him/her to use the other mage as a "tool"? I certainly would hope not,
but I suppose anything is possible. The recipient must have been in a state of
mental instability when he chose to don the item, but OverDrive would have that
effect.
I've taken the liberty of showing this item to a colleague of mine, Fraternay,
who may have more to impart regarding the specifics of the item. Until we hear
from her, we must try to avoid these Coyote mages if at all possible. Who can
say what they might be capable of doing with such items.
KHANx, as I am unwilling to challenge anything Nightstalker uncovers, we have
only two days until the Katana docks. Shouldn't we be moving on our Underground
quest, like YESTERDAY??! I'm as ready as I'm likely to get. Let's get this over
with before my supply of Dramamine runs dry, and my viscera do likewise
